Greetings

I will be in Laguna Beach, CA the week of April for my wife to attend a painting class, and I am looking for a Captain to conduct some on-water training, preferably with a twin engine trawler in the 40 ft range. I am primarily interested in close quarter maneuvering and docking, so not looking to burn much fuel. I have a lot of small boat outboard experience, but am looking for some trawler experience while searching for one of my own.

Is anyone aware of someone in the area I could contact?

Thanks

If you don’t get a specific recommendation, check with the harbor master at Dana Point Harbor.

I think the OP is looking for a training class that that provides a captain and a boat, not a captain to train on a customers boat. 20+ years ago I did on the water training aboard Weebles. Even back then insurance was prohibitively expensive. I don't know of anyone in the SoCal area providing this on a powerboat. Some of the sailing schools may offer training - some may even have crossed over to power. But I know of none.

Please update if you find anything.

Do you, by any chance, belong to a yacht club? Might present some "non-commercial" contacts.
