Greetings fellow travelers, I own Islander, a 1973 Bristol 42. Her vertical interior panels are an interesting textured tan/brown material and I am trying to determine exactly what type of material it is and whether it can be painted white to create a “new” look. If so, what type of paint would adhere to this type of material. Anyone have any idea what it is?

Welcome aboard. Many boats ago I painted the teak paneling that was badly stained from the windows leaking. I used Interlux Brightside paint and sprayed it with an HVLP sprayer. I did use a forced air respirator due to the fumes. Spent a lot of time prepping but that is normal in painting, 80% time prepping and 20% time painting. It came out beautifully.
