I think I found a Hatteras LRC 65 in Brazil.

So it looks like Nick F was right. The boat was built in Brazil. On the weekend a Brazilian friend here at the yacht club helped me in going through the paperwork on board. He found the authorization document for the start of the build. It was dated 1985 and in the name of the first owner. Another document dated the completion of the build in 1988. This owner had the boat until 1998 when it was sold to the second owner. It was the second owner who took the boat to Kalmar for the refit in 2005. I was able to read about both owners on the internet. Very interesting. The current owner is the third.

While similar in quite a few ways to the Hatteras LRC, I can tell you in no uncertain terms - this is not a Hatteras. It may be a great boat, but just not a Hatteras.

BTW, All Hatteras LRC 58 and 65 ( not sure about the 42 or 48) came with Detroits. They were normally aspirated, so that would be another clue

I met the owner last weekend and he gave me some photos of the boat out the water. It is not a displacement hull shape. And it looks to have bronze propeller shafts.

The running gear could be bronze. That could also be a coating like PropSpeed.

I agree with Peter not a Hatteras reverse transom and all the windows are the first two things for me.

Not a Hatt. Don't know what it is. But not a Hatt. Deck house comes further forward on a Hatt and there's a certain 'flatness' to the brow on Hatts. Here's an article on the 65 - note the ports on the hull vs the OPs picture.

I agree it is not a 65 LRC. If the guy can look at the starboard hull there will be a marking with a hull id. It could be a Hatt but not an LRC. If it is a Hatt the hull ID will Show hATAX.

It's a motor yacht. There are some 65 LRC's for sale in the USA.
Hatteras built LRC's in these lengths: 42, 48, 58 and 65 foot.
There is a nice 48 going on the market in North Carolina and in the next few months, I will be put my 58 LRC on the market. Interested buyers can learn about LRC's from owners on the LRC club web site.
