Snow on a boat always look horrible. Perfect photo for those wanna be live aboard's.

You just know the relative humidity is about 100%

Me, I always loved the harbor on a light snowfall, windless day.

I would even take rides in my center console.... quiet and peaceful as I was often the only one on the water.

"Quiet Storm" suits the occasion...

Is that a skim of ice on the water too?

I view that as a bad sign for the coming three months. Forget the shovel, move the boat to where it doesn't happen.

We broke ice on the sea trial for our first boat, an Albin 25, out of Squalicum Harbor, November 2013. Bellingham! Who knew?!

Just be sure you don't use one of those shovels with the sharp metal edge!

I once rented a car in the Winter in Marathon Florida, in the Keys with only 50 more miles to get to Key West and as far south as possible,

In the back seat where was an ice scrapper. That person finally got the right idea!

I had to shovel 2'+ of snow off my sailboat a couple of times, once in Virginia Beach and once in Manteo. Both times I used the polyethylene cutting board from the galley. You don't want to use a metal shovel, and in any case in those locations they didn't keep snow shovels on the shelf. The second time it snowed overnight, I had to reach out and push the snow away from the companionway doors just to get out - about 3' of drifted snow against them.

Arrived in the Victoria, BC, area for the first time (preparatory to cruising north). The next morning I was out "shoveling" the decks with a plastic dustpan. ☃️

In Dec of 08 my new to me boat had a foot of snow on it that I used a plastic shovel to remove. Jan. 09 saw about 6” more.
In Feb. 09 I solved the problem by buying a boathouse.

On a cold but sunny day I went winter fishing. Got back to the dock after a sudden snowstorm with about 3 inches on the deck. Then the sun came out again, no fish caught.

This is my son right after I gave him my snow shovel April 10, 2022 right before I left Alaska for Mexico.

If it is a light weight snow we use an 18 volt leaf blower to clean up the snow.

Where in the NE are you still in the water? Planning to stay through the winter?
We are in NJ Barnagate bay area. I keep it in the water and use it each weekend. The tree is up and a few Christmas lights on the boat. Its warm inside and I do upgrades/ maintenance on the off season.

I know your situation only too well. I thought we did a good job of outfitting our boat in the fall of '24 for our trip South and snow removal equipment wasn't really on my radar. I ended up having to use various kitchen utensils to shovel the snow off of the deck so we could get on and off our boat. This wasn't your typical weather in the Low Country of South Carolina for sure. I'm pretty sure it won't happen to us this year...if we need to shovel snow here I'll get the manatees to help me.
