How can I improve my Bluetooth signal?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

While simply connecting to the SmartShunt and EW batteries via Bluetooth from anywhere on the boat would be fine, also seeing data on MFDs over NMEA 2000 would be that much better. Victron makes a “light” version of the Cerbo GX called the Cerbo-S GX. It appears to lack only the ports for external tank level inputs. You still need their VE-can to N2K cable, but that seems to be what I’m after. Especially attractive at half the price. Anyone running a Cerbo-S GX?
For the price difference you might just opt for the regular GX. It is a trivial amount of money more. Everyone I know that got the S-GX wishes they opted for the regular GX. Be forewarned...that little blue GX box will infect your brain. It has so many options that can be run through it...lol.

Yes, this is a very common experience. The combination of a metal engine room door and foil-lined insulation creates a near-perfect Faraday cage, which blocks Bluetooth signals.

Bluetooth range extenders can work, but the simplest and most reliable solution is to install a Victron Cerbo GX or a similar Raspberry Pi-based system (like Venus OS). These devices connect directly to your gear and relay all the data over a single, robust Wi-Fi connection to your phone and a web portal, solving the range issue completely.
