Hello everyone, just had my offer accepted on a 1987 43 Albin so I'm excited to be joining the community! Still in the initial steps of surveying etc but have a tenative plan I would appreciate some feedback on as well as one particular sticking point.

The boat is located on the east coast and I'm bringing her to Galveston so if you see any terrible ideas/decisions feel free to let me know.

Next 3 weeks - hull survey, diesel tech to look at the drive and generator engine, mechanic/captain to prepare a list of tiered repairs (immediate life and seaworthiness, short/mid term needs, and longer term wants), closing.

November - mechanic/captain to work on the immediate needs and select others based on my budget (never enough for everything you want to do)

December - mechanic/captain to bring the boat to Pensacola where me and my partner will meet him and then continue on learning about the boat, etc for the trip to Galveston (with us acting as the captains mates- not by ourselves).

All of this would be via the ICW, there isn't any plan to cross the Gulf in the winter.

The sticking point I have is that this boat is equipped with NON-FUNCTIONING wesmar stabilizers (still trying to find out if they're electric or hydraulic) but they're currently pinned straight according to the owner. I have not been able to find any Wesmar partners on this side of the Gulf and I'd like to get them looked at to determine what they need (time and money) to be functional again. There is a slim chance that I might even have it in my budget.

Does anyone know of any Wesmar partners in the Galveston area? Does it need to be a Wesmar partner or should I just call around and see who might be willing to take a look? Realistically is this the kind of thing where we could bring the boat in for a day or two and get (at least) diagnosed if not repaired? If the latter is the case then it might make sense to have the Captain do a layover in Florida for a few days if he can.
