We are in the final stages of acquiring a 1995 GB49 Motoryacht. The aft shore plug is integral to the starboard aft on-deck storage locker. Has anyone relocated this so it is integral to the hull? If so where? Pics?

I am not understanding the question. I believe you want to relocate your shore power socket to a different position? I believe you intend to relocate it to a different place on your cabin top and not actually to the hull?

If you do change location, you might consider close to the main electrical panel and breakers. The Eagles per socket is the pilot house we're the main panel and breakers are.

Also make sure it's up to code. New code requires breaker between power cord socket and main boat power breaker.

The smart plug cause an electric fire and tripped the new breakers between smart socket and boat main breaker.

We went back to good old black ring secure socket. The smart plug allowed the plug to move causing a short/fire.

First Ive ever heard of that. I melted two plugs before switching to the smartplug. It’s been four years and no more melting. I switched after reading the below article.

The ELCI and breaker must be within 10’ of the connection per ABYC. Since there are two connections we need on at each point of power insertion.

I have never been a fan of shore power receptacles mounted on the hull sides. Too much water traffic/corrosion seems to occur.

The higher the better in my mind, although I have had the good fortune to use a hard wired 100' shore cord that is handled by the Glendining Cablemaster system.

If the receptacles on the "almost yours" boat are integrated into a on-deck storage box, then that seems, if properly done, like a great place to have these weather sensitive connections.

Why do you want to change?
