The two 24V 180AH victron batteries were over 10 years old when I purchased her last year. Seemed to still have 80% plus capacity but I thought it was time to change and upgrade.

@Barking Sands had the black Friday sale so I purchased 2 of the Epoch 24V 230AH batteries. They arrived promptly with free shipping and a great price!

I had already added a Victron Ekrano for monitoring and using the Safiery external BT Tank monitoring for waste and fuel level. Nice to have reliable digital gauges and monitor remotely via the Victron VRM portal.

The Epoch batteries are generally lighter and smaller than the victron except width which was about 1/4" wider. No big deal but I had to slightly trim the inner frame of the cabinet. It is inside the seat compartment and well hidden under 2 covers.

The new batteries required no mods to the xisting cables so install was a breeze. Working with @Barking Sands we found the existing Lynx Ion Shunt BMS was creating an issue as it connects to the Quattro 48V 5kva inverter charger and uses the inverter input that commands or disables charging. I removed it and everything works great! Sea trial confirms charging when in diesel mode works as expected. Very happy with the outcome and thanks to @Barking Sands for the deal on the battery and great post sales support.

Please don't beat me up based on the photos. I have not permenantly dressed and routed the low voltage wiring.

This extends my runtime by about 50% but more importantly provides for longer time on the hook using the inverter.

I have 2 more upgrades planned.
1) replace the tired AC with a new variable speed compressor model
2) likely add a stern thruster

Interesting!!

The only setup I'm familiar with is the 48v 240 AH system I have, as from the SVP factory.

What kind of range on electric propulsion did you get before your change?
I guess you now have a total of 230 AH at 48v, correct? What kind of range do you get now?
