GB36 cutlass bearings

My 1982 single engine GB36 needs cutlass bearings replaced, the shaft is 1 1/2" dia. Does anyone know what the outside dia. of the cutlass bearings are?

I am researching the same for my GB42 with 1-1/2" shafts. So far it seems 99% positive that the OD is 2" (and not 2-3/8"). I started a thread like yours but got no definitive reply. I am also still trying to find out he size of the set screws. (My thread is titled "Do you have a GB42 near Vancouver?")

I intend to change only the bearing in the strut, and plan to do the job in the next couple of weeks in Coal Harbour (Stanley Park) on our club lifter without pulling the shaft. First I have to fabricate an extractor tool.

Strut Pro sells a tool that will make the job easy. It costs less than $500 in 1.5” versions. I would look at buying it and then selling it after the job is done. We did ours last year. Formula was able to tell me the model number for the bearing so it took out all the guess work. We put the new bearings in the freezer overnight and then took them to the yard packed in ice in a cooler. Being frozen they are slightly smaller so they slip in easier.

I used West Coast Propeller Service in Warrenton Oregon. Very knowledgeable on Cutlass bearing and which ones go in which boat. Also very good with propellors. High recommend even just for advice.
