Hi All
Our 1988 GB36 is equiped with a venerable Seaward Princess 3-burner stove which worked fine to date.
Yesterday, my wife was completing a 20 minute cooking when the knob refused turning back to the off position.
She was about to order the boat’s evacuation when I turned both gas levers.
After cooling, the knob returned to normal operation.
Did any of you had a similar expérience ? What to do now ?
Thanks for reading

Have a different stove and no similar issue. I assume that it is a propane stove, so my thoughts & questions are:

Do you have a propane alarm?
And an electric solenoid shutoff valve between tank and stove?

I would add both of the above ASAP if needed. Then I would:
Keep it shut off at the propane tank
Also keep solenoid switch off as backup
Research how & whether to disassemble & (gently) clean as best as possible that knob assembly
Check with manufacturer about replacing it after any additional incident (or maybe immediately)

Sorry I don't know more about the specific model but those my high level thoughts. Definitely good thinking on your part to follow up and stay safe!

Thanks a lot for your attention
I have a solenoid valve indeed an a LPG circuit breaker. I turned both to off in order to flame the burner out.
Will do a cautious cleaning as advised.
Thanks again

We had some good friends we used to cruise with that had sticky controls just like that. Used to drive them crazy. I don’t know if they ever found a solution, but they would simply shut the gas solenoid to shut everything down.
I’m not sure if those controls are serviceable or not, but they should be extremely simple. It may be possible to disassemble the valve and polish the surfaces, then reassemble with new grease. I believe there is a specific gas valve grease for that application.
Alternatively, maybe you could find replacement valves.

I have never heard the adjective "venerable" applied to a Seaward Princess stove. I replaced mine with a Force 10 and haven't looked back.
