Where should the hoses go to from the coolant expansion tank

One over flow hose from just under radiator cap connect to top or bottom fitting on the plastic tank. Then what plugs into the other fitting?

On mine there was only the one connection from the bottom of the overflow tank to the cap (the neck actually) on the expansion tank.

The tube from the tank should go to the bottom of the plastic tank, with the tank having a couple of inches of fluid in it when cold: that way when the engine heats up and the coolant expands it pushes into the plastic tank/container & when it cools down it sucks fluid back in - the idea being that no air can enter the system as the tube in the plastic bottle is always submerged

Bottom tube connects to cap (Fill neck) fitting. Top tank fitting should tubing leading down to bilge. This vents the tank and provides an emergency overflow drain (hopefully never needed).

Some recovery tanks, like my Yanmar's, have the hose from the radiator filler neck of the expansion tank leading to a connection on the recovery tank's cap which has a tube molded into it leading down to the bottom of the recovery tank. A second connetion on the other side of the cap has a hose leading to the bilge to avoid splashing any overflow on the engine. My NextGen generator has the same arrangement.
