I've got a hydraulic swim platform that raises and lowers. We're carrying a Highfield aluminum dinghy on it.
The platform wood's shot on it so we're having it redone this winter. The existing supports for the dinghy are adjustable aluminum pieces and they're also pretty tired too. They're designed to be removable, but in reality we never took them off. They have rubberized bunks that helped prevent them from being leg-stabbers. We never really had problems with anyone tripping over them.
What are others using to support their dinghy for a lifting platform?
I wasn't aware of these, but apparently Weaver makes chock stands. Anyone have them? Love/hate? My boat guy mentioned them, but I'm not sure they'd be right for the way our wood grate swim platform it set up.
I'm inclined to keep using the adjustable vee shaped kind, as those seem like they'd be the least trouble to adjust if/when we changed out the dinghy. The question then becomes which ones to choose? Pros/cons?
