So I know most of you are not pushing big Detroits, but maybe someone in your marina is. Here is what I posted on other forums:
I have a set*of 8V92's*just came out of a 72' Hatteras, one running great, one with bad main bearings and possible cracked liner. Both where recentley serviced and then one shut down and had coolant and oil pieces in the pan. 8V92, the running one has 2400 hours with a new longblock about 400 hours ago. THe other had 2340 hours on it. New water pumps, lots of spare parts, Allison MH20L and MH20R 2:1 transmissions, controls, the whole package. Both where just serviced, have recent*oil samples (doesnt really matter on the starboard that shut down)...the boat was run on the port engine from Wilmington, NC to JBBW where they where taken out a couple of weeks ago.
