Our CHB 34 has only 1 wiper on the starboard side windshield in front of the helm. It is a pantograph wiper. The motor is similar to the one below and has a 3.5” shaft.

I would like to add pantograph wipers to the port side and center windshields. The port side is no problem as a motor the same as used on the starboard side will fit. However as the center windshield is hinged to open it’s frame is 1/2” to 1” further from the bulkhead than the other two. In order for the wiper arm to clear that frame I need a motor with a 4” to 4.5” shaft. I have not been able to find one with a shaft that long.

Other CHB or Marine Trader 34 owners - Does your boat have a center windshield wiper? If so, what motor is used?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Could you not mount the standard motor outwards the desired distance with a suitably sized block of wood under it as a kind of spacer..?

PS. I see why not. The motor has to be inside. Actually maybe not. Those boats have a huge overhang over the front windshields, so pretty well weather protected other than when taking greenies over the bow. Encasing the electrical part in a decent plastic guard might allow that idea to work. Doing it that way no spacer would be needed..? Just a thought..?

Thanks Peter, I guess that would be an option. I would prefer to mount the motor inside out of the weather.
