This is my first post and I wanted to say thank you to everyone on the forum. So much information in one source. In the next 6 months we are planning on buying a trawler and live in the Florence Alabama area close to the Tennessee River. There are lots of boats in our area for sale but we have also seen many on the East Coast. Is there any ballpark on what it would cost to have a boat delivered here either by land or water? We have started to narrow our search down and finally know the kind of boat we want. We love the trawlers with Europa styling that adds extra deck space. Planning the Great Loop in a couple of years when the last kid graduates. Again, thanks you all so much for the help and I always look forward to the Trawler Forum Newsletters.

Size of boat will dictate whether it can be trucked. Higher than 13'6" or wider than 12' (I think - might be 14' but will require special route and pilot car) is a no-go.

Reputable, professional delivery skipper plus crew is around $600/day plus expenses so speed of boat matters Ability to run long days is route dependent.

You're probably seeing boats in Florida for what seems like a bargain. Florida is year-round season plus the sun is hard on a boat. More than supply and demand affect prices in Florida. Contrast to boats in the upper Midwest that are stored in a heated barn much of the year and there's a big difference in condition that results in a price differential. Point being that, to some extent, you get what you pay for.

Good luck with your search. TF is a great community.

Thank you for the info! Much appreciated. Those are good things to keep in mind during our search.

Welcome aboard. I like the Europa models as well. They are not the only models with the covered aft deck (my preference). I owned a Krogen Manatee and was very happy with its versatility and space for a 36 footer.

We have had smaller boats for a long time and this will be our first of this size. Not scared of the larger boats or the different systems that have to be maintained. We do love the space of the 40+ foot ones. Mac2, The Krogen Manatee does look very spacious for its length. Great layout. The Defevers are on the list as well. There is one (41ft) in our area we looked at in the initial search. Didn't have a clue then what we were looking at when we toured it but have a much better idea now.
