I recently had my swift trawler burn to destruction. Investigators say it was an electrical fault likely to be the switchboard which has not been modified, has anyone had this happen.

Welcome aboard. Very sorry to see what happened to your boat.

Wow - please keep us posted. Hopefully you will be treated well by Beneteau. Hoping no collateral damage or injuries?

Welcome Aboard, but in most unfortunate circumstances. I hope your insurer treats you well and you can return to boating, perhaps in another brand. I`d let the insurer chase Beneteau, if they are so inclined.

Sorry to see that happen to you. How new was the boat? Asking because I saw a brand new Beneteau (around a 30 foot powerboat) sink at the waiting wall to enter the Ballard locks a few years ago. It was tied to the wall and happened quickly. Dad barely got his kids off (that’s me in the kayak). Wondering if they have a quality control issue.

Welcome aboard, so sorry to see these pictures of you burned out boat.
Was this a new boat when you bought it or a used boat ? Kind of curious to hear what Beneteau had to say about it.

How long did you own it before the catastrophic fire? I hope it was without direct risk to anyone.

Very sad to see this. I hope you are treated well by Beneteau and your insurance company!

Unfortunately, I have written to Beneteau a number of times and sadly they have not replied. I would have though given how serious this matter is they would replied. Can anyone please help?

What about the Insurance Co? Have they contacted them?

Who do you write to? Local or in Europe? Who represents Beneteau in Australia?

I wonder how this is going. It`s an awful situation for any boatowner to experience.

Unfortunately I have had no support from Beneteau following the complete loss of my 50 ft Swift trawler. After the fire investigations the fire appears to have started in the switchboard I would have thought Beneteau would be keen to get involved and assist me. I believe additional fire rating may have prevented the fire. I will continue to seek support.

WOW! I feel for you.

I don't know the laws where you are. Generally, in the U.S. the Ins. Co. might want the problem fixed that started it. To prevent more losses for them. There might be some consumer laws that may help you.
I am thinking that you have already contacted a lawyer?

Good luck.

That is awful! So sorry to hear about it. Has your insurance company gotten involved yet?
