I am fairly new to using Aquamap. My tablet (Samsung Galaxy) will only fit into my mounting bracket in landscape orientation. All is good until I tap on an icon, for example an anchorage. The associated information displays in landscape orientation as well. My neck is getting sore! Does the brain trust here have a method to have the information displayed in portrait orientation?
Thanks all.

Wifey is our AquaMap user, so I haven't seen that.

Their tech support people have been responsive, though. If you suggest an improvement, they may fix it in future releases.

that's a great thought. I will reach out to them.

Hey mate,

it's a solid app once you get the hang of it, but yeah, it has its quirks.

Regarding the info pop-ups in landscape mode: currently, Aqua Map displays these pop-ups in the same orientation as your device. So, if your tablet is mounted in landscape, the pop-ups will appear in landscape too. There's no built-in setting to force the pop-ups into portrait orientation while keeping the device in landscape

Here are a couple of workarounds that might help:
  • Enable Auto-Rotate: If your tablet's auto-rotate feature is enabled, you can temporarily rotate the device to portrait when you need to read detailed info, then rotate it back to landscape. It's a bit of a manual process, but it can alleviate the neck strain.
  • Use a Swivel Mount: Consider investing in a swivel or RAM-style mount that allows you to easily switch between landscape and portrait orientations. This way, you can quickly adjust the tablet's orientation as needed without removing it from the mount.
  • Secondary Device: Some users opt to use a secondary device, like a smartphone, to view detailed information. This allows you to keep the main chart display uninterrupted on your tablet while accessing pop-up details on the secondary device.
Unfortunately, as of now, Aqua Map doesn't offer a feature to customize the orientation of pop-up windows independently of the device's orientation. You might consider reaching out to their support team to suggest this as a feature request.

Good thoughts, thank you

I had similar issue, I have a tablet orientated upside down needing buttons on the left. Locking in the orientation of pages was/is a Samsung Android setting for me - not an Aquamaps problem.

We use Aqua Map Master as our primary and Navionics as a secondary back up. As someone else said, send your comments to the company as they are very responsive and the best bang for the buck and getting better every day.
