Blissboat
Guru
For west coast folks with an appetite for a project, the U.S. Navy is disposing by online auction of a 65' "support vessel." Built of aluminum in 1991 by Oregon Iron Works, with twin Detroit 8-71TIs, and located in Bremerton, WA. With nine days to go, bidding presently stands at $2500.00. Other than the fact that I am a U.S. taxpayer, I have no ownership interest or any other stake in this boat. I'm just thankful that I live on the east coast and thus able to resist temptation.

It ain't exactly in Bristol condition. Here is an excerpt from the vessel profile, downloadable from the GSA site:
BUILDER: OREGON IRON WORKS
YEAR: 1991
HULL MATERIAL: ALUMINUM
*****ALL WEIGHTS AND MEASUREMENTS PROVIDED ARE APPROXIMATE AND MAY
VARY*****
OVERALL LENGTH (APPROX): 65’
MAX BEAM (APPROX): Unknown
PROPULSION: TWIN DETROIT DIESEL 87-71T1 INBOARD ENGINES, reported to
be partially operational however this is not a guarantee that it is.
FEATURES: Pilot house; large aft work deck with cnopy; swim platform
with ladder; safety rails; galley; head; GPS/chart plotter.
DISCREPANCIES (INCLUDE BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO): The turbo on the
starboard engine gets excessively hot, to the extent that the
insulation will begin to smoke. The port generator has excessive
exhaust and produces a sheen on the water. There is an exhaust leak
on the starboard generator. Boat is taking on a small amount of
water into the galley; it is likely there is a small leak in the
hull. Port fuel tank is leaking into the galley bilge. Boat has
been modified throughout its service life with no configuration
management. Electrical system has been heavily modified with no
engineering design or review. Radar and depth sounder reported to be
non-op. Hydraulic pump unit and HVAC are non-op. Engine room and
lazarette bilge pumps are not functional; unable to test other bilge
pumps as it would result in a fuel/oil spill. Fire suppression
system has been removed.
REMOVAL: Boat is in the water and must be removed by waterway.
PLEASE PLAN REMOVAL ACCORDINGLY.
