Have always been able to get this to work on previous boats, but not this time. Recently upgraded my antique Furuno CRT radar with a newer NAVNET unit, an RDP-149, and want to connect it to my SIMRAD RS40-B to display AIS targets. Was told to use DATA2 set at 38,400 baud on the chart plotter and connect the wires to the radio. No targets appear. I know the radio is outputting AIS data because my laptop shows targets when connected. Either I have wires switched, a setting is wrong on the chart plotter, or both? Once I figure that out, can the chart plotter and laptop be connected to the same radio at the same time? If all else fails, is there a recommended technician here in Baltimore?
