I have a Airmar WX220 sensor that suddenly stopped working after being installed about 1 year. I can see the device on my N2K network using a sniffer but no data is being sent. The PGN’s are being updated but no wind, gps, etc data is being sent. I removed the cable from my mast to ensure continuity of the wires and the red, black, white and blue wires all showed low resistance. The WX220 connector only had four electrical posts (see attached photo). While researching this issue I came across this forum posting which shows the ground wire should be pin #3. swap Airmar 220WX with Airmar 120WX, no data RD-33

On my WX220 connector there is no electrical connection for pin #3. I looked in the hole and didn’t see a connector pushed in. The WX220 was dry so I don’t believe it corroded off. I don’t remember when I installed the unit last if there was a connection on Pin #3 but do know the unit worked perfectly for the past year.

Can anyone confirm Pin #3 should have a connector? If so is it possible for the device to work without a ground? I’m really confused how the cable apparently lost the ground pin.

No reply yet? Maybe the fault of the holidays.
I have no idea if this will help since I am not an electronics guru and have no experience with your unit.
BUT I used to work around machinery that have similar plugs and connections.
Once in a while when a machine acted up we traced it to a wire that fell out of its holder because the locking side wings on the pin were not set properly. Check for a wire that may have pulled out below that used to be pushed into to hole #3 and look at the pin sides for wings that are intended to be slightly bent to hold the pins in place. If they, wings, are not set properly the wire may back out over time and come out.
If that is the case then the wings need to be bent outwards more. Not bent widely but enough so they grip the inside of the receptacle. If that is the case then these connections also need a tool made specifically to disconnect them or you may damage the pins so they will no longer stay put.

Good Luck and may that be all it is.

Thanks, I confirmed with Furuno that if the sensor is showing up on the N2k network but not receiving data then the sensor is bad. I ordered a new unit.

My WX 220 is 12 years old now. Mostly it works perfectly, but occasionally it decides to have a short holiday. In those case it comes back online, but with windspeeds of over100knots, when it should show 15kn or so. I used to fiddle with connectors at the helm, made no difference. Now I just wait. Typically within 5-10 minutes it takes another holiday (no data all) but then "normal service is resumed". I concluded that a new unit is gonna be needed one of these days......
