My bow thruster battery is 6 yrs old. Im getting 12.4 at rest , same on shore power and with engine running.
i get clicking after 2-3 quick bursts, All my batteries on board are wet cell . Can you mix battery types and replace the thruster battery with AGM?

battery charger is pro- nautic 1250 all set to wet cell configuration.

I have not put meter up to battery or thruster cables yet? when i use thruster to see what it draws.
Brushes are in good condition but will blow out with air and lightly sand.

There isn’t much difference in the charging voltage profile between a flooded cell lead acid and an AGM. So AGMs will work fine for your bow thruster when charged with an FLA set charger.

Often, AGMs and flooded wet batteries have similar charging profiles, but IMO it's better to check the battery maker's voltage recommendations first... and then match the charger to all that. Or at least choose a compromise voltage which is usually easy enough to do with most flooded batteries and most AGMs.

The PN 1250 is programmable to voltage level, but just wet, AGM, gel, etc. (Have to do some of the programming on the main unit, not the remote.)

Lifeline AGMs might be an exception worth mentioning. Their recommended voltages, especially float, can be lower enough -- compared to flooded and other AGM brands -- to need some additional thought.

FWIW, for thruster use and if you're into "premium" brands, I'd choose Odyssey. Might even choose 2x Odyssey Extreme G31s versus 1x 8D.

FWIW, a paralleled pair of East Penn Deka G31 AGM's works like a charm for both bow thruster and windlass on our NT37. Seven summers of Inside Passage cruising so far, and still in fine shape.
