Thanks ASD. I will be sure not to invite that flat-footed redhead eating a banana on the dock today!

I used to go out on my uncle’s commercial crab boat as a young feller and I remember the day he told me about all the crazy superstitions that ‘some people’ had. That evening I laughed when I realized I’d opened a can of beans with the label upside down, and said ‘Hey look, uncle Wes, I just opened…’. By which time he’d already snatched it out of my hand and flung it over the side… :)

Being of Irish decent, flat footed and have been known to carry banana’s onboard, might ye be referring to the like of me? Roflmao!

Cheers

Have you also been known to whislte a tune on board? Oh boy!

Have had occasion to whistle up a wind when becalmed.
Have gone through the protocol to dename and rename a boat.
My wife’s grandfather (a boatbuilder) pointed out if you look carefully at the carved breasts you will note they don’t have nipples. Don’t want the seas to rise to engulf them looking to feed.
There’s some science behind red at night sailors delight……

I’m not superstitious but the admiral is. Bow to her desires when there’s no harm to it.

I remain un-inked, even after spending a few drunken times with my shipmates in tattoo parlors.

But I did consider a rooster and a pig on the top of each of my feet. Nothing saltier. Of course you'd have to spend the rest of your life explaining them to lubbers.

But in the submarine force, one doesn't drown as much as implode when one's ship sinks so probably would have had little effect...

After 20 years in the Navy, 20 years of riding Harley’s, how I ever got through that with no Tat’s is beyond me. Oh plenty of drunken times with shipmates and fellow Harley riders getting inked. When you see the old timers that had ink on them, it wasent much of “Art” anymore. LOL

OK, I will be sure to quote #11 to the admiral the next time she complains about how rough the seas are.
