choices Thanks again for all your input,,,very enlightening! I looked at my 1st trawler vintage1970s And could see only work and upkeep. Leaky windows rotten wood cracked fiberglass chalky hull etc,,,but it did have a diesel that looked and sounded good. Then a Carver 32 with little headroom...

advice Thanks for all the advice! I plan on staying at whatever marina I purchase the boat at and then heading down to the keys to live aboard after some shakedown cruises and living on the hook for a while. Where from there I don't know but it may be just key hopping and diving...I am soon...

Hello all, While shopping for boats in my price range I have come to the conclusion that it's come down to 2 choices: The first is to buy a mid 70s vintage trawler (marine trader)with all the headaches involved but great mileage allowing me to cruise or a late 80s boat like a Carver or chris...

outdrive It seems a waste of a good diesel engine already in place and to replace them w/ 2 outboards seems likely to cost as much or more...

Hello all, Anyone with an idea of what it would cost to put an out drive on a 1988 Volvo 200 hp diesel. I am looking at a boat w/o one but in otherwise good shape and the engine has only 200 hrs on it...thanks
