American Tug 34 vs Downeast Cruiser

Thanks for the suggestions. One thought I had with the Downeast style is there is more "outdoor" space in the layout, which might be better in the Bahamas and enjoying the intercostal. But the Tug has a layout that is more home like, that may be more comfortable when living onboard for...

American Tug 34 vs Downeast Cruiser

Nearing retirement and planning for a cruiser to use in the Bahamas and parts of the Loop. I like the American Tug 34, but also find many of the Downeast Cruisers attractive too. From your experience is one or the other better suited for both of these grounds? Thanks

    Diesel Duck Ellemaid

something I've noticed with Diesel Duck designs. Often the boats are for sale, shortly after they have been used slightly. Is the nature of these boats the owners do a "once in a lifetime" cruise, and then sell the boats and return to land. Or is there something inherent in the DD designs...

    Converting sailboat to powerboat

SIMI 60: I've seen a couple of boats like this. They start with an ocean racing hull, which I gather lose value quickly as technology advances. No one wants an old "obsolete" racing hull so they often sell at low cost with transportation "away" being the largest cost. And they convert them...

    Converting sailboat to powerboat

North Baltic Sea, and MYWeebles have both shown the boat that made me think of the idea. (green hull shown above) Owners of the Nigel Irens designed Roxanne sailboat approached the designer about converting their fifteen year old - beloved sailboat - into a powerboat for their retirement...

    Converting sailboat to powerboat

I'm in SW Florida with wrecked boats a plenty here. There are a number of sailboats that need their mast, rigging, and sails replaced, but the rest of the boat is fine. Would it work to just forget the sails and use it as a cruising powerboat? What would be the downside?

Has the cost of fuel slowed you down? (Non-political)

The cost of diesel makes me happy that I only burn about 1/2 to 2/3 gallon an hour at 6 knots! I only wish I could get out more often and burn more fuel! Work gets in the way! Hello Vashon, I'm in Sarasota and would like to talk with you about Vashon Trawlers. If you have time, please call...
