Thanks for the recommendations...we may consider Angelfish as it looks to have more favorable depth. I will look up your anchorage list. Cathy and I are big Active Captain fans and put a lot of weight into what others are saying. We have absolutely no plan or schedule, other than that we will...

    Summer in the FL Keys

We had a great cruise through Ft Lauderdale and Miami today and are currently riding out thunderstorms anchored off of Elliot Key. As expected, hard packed sand stopped the CQR from digging in, but we've got plenty of chain out to keep us in place. We were able to get one swim/dive in to check...

    Summer in the FL Keys

We took your advice and are currently anchored in the south lake keyhole. A long day of bridge roulette, but not too bad overall. Looking forward to tomorrow's travels. Thanks for the recommendation for the south lake.

Caesar Creek - North channel to Adams Key? Thanks Hopcar. This is our first pass through the area I'd greatly appreciate anything you can pass on...just PM me. We are planning on passing straight through the area tomorrow and over nighting at at Elliot Key. I do have questions if you have any...

    Summer in the FL Keys

Thanks Moonstruck. The guys here at Old Port Cove came through and got the guys from Ice Marine to drop by and do a recharge. Excellent, quick service. Now I just have to work on finding the leak that caused the problem...I will keep the Anchor Air contact info in case I need additional service...

Spending the day in North Palm Beach, continuing south tomorrow. Had to replace the generator start battery while in Stuart, luckily we had guest with a car visiting so the t rip into town to get the new battery was no big deal. Looks like my salon AC unit might need an R22 charge...anyone know...

We will likely pass one another Timjet. We darted over to Stuart to spend the 4th in the mooring field at Sunset Bay....these folks are really great and put on a free BBQ with $1.50 Coronas. Great fireworks to cap it off. We plan on spending one more night and plan on stopping at Old Port Cove...

Sorry we missed you Lou! We will see you and everyone else in the "D-Doc" club when we return. We are looking forward to seeing the results of al of that hard work and can only hope you and your wife enjoy your Jefferson as much as we enjoy ours.

    Summer in the FL Keys

Colleagues, after a 6-month refit period, minor upgrades and repairs, and the carefully conducted (and well-lubricated) name change ceremony, M/V White Rose is leaving next week for some extended Florida cruising. Our original plans to strike out for the Loop trip were put aside for now as...

Pickwick Lake to Cocoa, Knot a Yot coming home

Sorry Ben, I tried a couple of times to post an update but had a really bad connection. We made it to Merritt Island on Saturday morning after 21 days underway. Some numbers from the trip: 1323 statute miles, 168 engine hours, 554 gallons of diesel, 7.9 MPH average speed. Great trip, now we are...

It was not too bad. There were a couple of legs with a little more beam sea than I would have preferred, but after all this is an extended shakedown cruise. You can't shake 'er down if you don't shake her. We may stop on tomorrow's leg for fuel somewhere. We will honk your way as we pass.

Rough day on Okeechobee, but we are on the east side now. Hoping to make four rivers loop anchorage for the night.

Rum cove last night, lollypop anchorage just past Ortona Lock tonight. Lake O tomorrow. Still having a great time. Actually saw a Florida Panther this evening on the banks at the anchorage. A little rough in Pine Island Sound this morning, but turned in to a beautiful day. Interesting that they...

That's our palm, take the straight across route. We may take the rim route when we return this way. We are finding it much too beautiful here not to return!

Thanks JW. We're going through OK then up the Atlantic ICW to Cocoa. Won't be going to the Keys on this trip, but will definitely be planning one in the near future once we get the boat up to snuff. Thanks for the advice...we've had enough hackle-raising on this trip.

Captain's cook'in up some Jambalaya while we swing on the hook in Longboat Pass. Our first time cruising this part of Florida and we can see why everyone loves it. Great run today, got underway late so not as much ground covered, but great scenery. Great day weather-wise too. We're looking at...

Pickwick Lake to Cocoa, Knot a Yot coming home

Thanks guys....we appreciate the intel! Unfortunately we are making the trip without the ability to launch our dingy due to an out of commission davit. Although we love anchoring out, on this trip we are stuck having to enjoy the scenery from on board.

Indeed, it is good to be back in shorts and t-shirts! Hell, we went crazy and actually had the AC running yesterday afternoon! My boss back in Calgary called last week and let me know that one of my Wind Farms received 40 cm of snow, and has a wind chill of -40C. Now where did I put my suntan...

Pickwick Lake to Cocoa, Knot a Yot coming home

Our crossing was "bumpy" but uneventful, other than a couple of items tossed about that were not properly stowed. We departed Carrabelle at 1217 in fog at low tide. No problems at all (I draft 3'8"). Out East Pass, speed 7 knots, and set course for Clearwater. Nice sunset, beautiful sunrise with...

Pickwick Lake to Cocoa, Knot a Yot coming home

Indeed, we looked at all options for crossing, but decided that we wanted a good night's rest and a place with good data reception to keep an eye on the weather up to the time we head out. We had dinner at "The Fisherman's Wife" last night and we think that alone was worth the extra time to come...

Pickwick Lake to Cocoa, Knot a Yot coming home

Arrived in Carrabelle yesterday about noon after over-nighting at the town dock in White City where we celebrated Cathy's birthday with another traveling crew. It still looks like the cold front is stalling and will become a stationary front, with very little pressure gradient across the eastern...

Indeed...we even noted a few chrome anchors...maybe they know something that I don't...perhaps chrome prevents the mud from sticking!?

Pickwick Lake to Cocoa, Knot a Yot coming home

Yes indeed, the fenders are all well used, almost to the point of being used up. One will hardly hold air any more, so we'll be replacing a couple when we return. Funny you mentioned it...last evening we were at Palafox Pier in Pensacola looking at all of the shiny clean boats, some of them in...

94 miles today. Flat seas in the bay, beautiful views of Mobile. Dolphins playing, Coast Guard practicing, God I hate this <grin> Currently anchored in Middle Wolf Bay, Pensacola tomorrow to see my daughter.
