9" H-X ok in FL
I've been running the 9" heat exchangers in Florida with no issue. I tend to run below 1800 rpm. I wish I could get a PN for the O rings on that heat exchanger.
Before arriving I had collected all available manuals. The first thing I did was step through the post installation setup. That's how I discovered the rudder sensor bias. There is a data entry step to correct for sensor error but the parameter range is only -7 to +7 degrees.
The Autopilot on a friends boat was not behaving recently and caused us to have to hand steer from Savannah, GA to Melbourne FL. Notable observations:
1) The Raypilot 650 would begin a heading hold mode but after wandering a few degrees from commanded heading the unit would throw a "Drive cut"...
Interest in the rally is building
There are currently 20 parties/boats planning attendance. I just surveyed the location this week, lots of info to share. PM me with actual name boat model, head count, and percent probability of attendance.
How much interest is there for planning a free form meet up? I was thinking just after Hurricane season on Florida gulf coast but am open to suggestions.
Both Gulfstar groups on Facebook have shown interest.
I have a 2001 Ford with the IH 7.3L. Since exclusive use of ULSD in that truck I've had to rebuild the fuel return valve every couple of years. Two different ford techs at two different dealerships have told me the root cause of the leaks is the new diesel.
Differing Perkins 6.354 oil pans
There appear to be at least two different oil pan configurations for the 6.354. There is one that is confined mostly to within the foot print of the block, the one that appears in Perkins engine manuals. There is another configuration that extends about 1.5 to 2...
I'll be driving down for Saturday only. Probably not the optimum day but it's what my work-a-day life will allow. I would like to meet up with some of the forum regulars.
Lots of SM chatter but no corroborating news yet. One claim that "the warden posted" the pics. I'd be convinced if I saw that official posting. Dumping certainly happens and it's atrocious when it does but I'll monitor for other data on this particular act/actor before I get my BP up.
We too have multiple toolbags around the boat. We're fortunate enough to have standing headroom in the ER. I'm thinking of hanging one of these on the aft bulkhead of the ER.

Nice clean install. You deftly accommodated the intrusion of the side deck above the counter.
Looks like you opted to butt up to the stove as opposed to removing it and dropping it on top of the granite. Aside from ease of execution, was there any other motivation to go that way?
I'm contemplating replacing the galley counter and bar top on our boat with stone. I plan to remove the plywood top and replace with 2 cm granite. I would use wood supports where the bar top cantilevers into the salon area. I hoped to reuse the existing fiddles to replicate the original look...
Motor Check Labs
I've used Motor Check Labs on several occasions. Always quick turnaround and they provide reference values for all measured parameters. One sample is $27 or five for $120.

I did a forum search and didn't come up with much on provisions for dog relief while underway. Aside from walking your dog past a scupper and nature takes its course, what provisions have other cruisers found effective?
About 2 inches.
Answering for others (maybe). On our GS44MC there appears to be a 2x2 frame and 1/2" plywood over the fuel tank top that makes up the pump room floor.
This can be readily seen by opening the drop in hatch between the engine room and the pump room.
I have heard that the entry to the ICW southbound from the St Johns River is tricky. Does anyone have recent experience? Are Nav aids correctly placed? Is a favored side approach needed ? We have 4ft draft. Looks like we'll be there at or just after high tide.
