Rgano, Awesome info ! Thank you. The more I learn about FL 120 and updated 135 the more I like… the parts seem reasonably priced and there’s a wealth of information online. I’ve decided against the particular example I was pursuing so the hunting continues … I’ll keep the forum undated as the...

    bucvalu question

thanks Comodave, My experience with Geico is not great. They cancelled my policy on my Beneteau 57 sailboat indicating they were getting out of the business for boats greater than 50' in California. That doesn't seem to be the case across the board so maybe geography plays a roll... ? idk...

    bucvalu question

Thanks Larry, I figured agents use some Yachtworld book value... For insurance I've moved to "agreed upon value" for my vessels. I had Geico but moved to State Farm, lower rates and nicer to work with Patrick

    1985 Ocean Alexander

Thats very helpful … appreciate you sharing. From what I’ve read there’s several factors involved with tank longevity regardless of metal and quality of alloy used … I’ve always tried to keep my tanks topped up to minimize condensation. Other posters on the interwebs indicate aluminum tanks can...

    1985 Ocean Alexander

Regarding mid 80’s OA and tank material … the boat I’m pursuing is listed as having aluminum fuel tanks … regardless of material perhaps 38 year old tanks are mostly ready to spoil … anybody have opinions / knowledge on this topic ?

How’s the OA ? I’m possibly buying a 1985 40’ . curious if you’ve encountered anything unexpected or just routine maintenance items … do you know what type of diesel tanks used on yours ? Aluminum?

Hi folks, Just joined. I’m in contract for a1985 Ocean Alexander trunk trawler (3 cabin) 40’. I’ll be looking at the boat next weekend. I’m wondering if more experienced members here can comment on the AO use of aluminum diesel tanks … this particular specimen is said to be primarily boatshed...
