What kind of shower/tub sump system do you have?

My two heads both drained to the bilge... nasty. I built a grey holding tank and rerouted the drains to the tank. I plumbed a drain line into the bilge drain, powered by a diaphragm pump. Very simple.

    Deck and Trim work?

Good luck on the paint, I don't have an answer. Oiling the bare wood will work just fine but you have to keep doing it. It's easier to keep your Teak/Tung/Linseed oil handy with a rag and just wipe it down when you think about it. Some people use a mix of varnish and oil to seal it further...

    Recreational Trawler

Like Marin, I pull out the phone and show people a picture. Unlike Marin, I tell them it's a recreational trawler. If they are still curious I do like Art and tell them the particulars till their eyes gloss over. Since my mother described my last trawler as "Two bedroom, two bath" I've...

    Clamptite anyone?

Have had one for almost 20 years. It is an emergency tool that works very well. If you only put one loop of wire and tighten it down you are using it wrong and will likely cut your hose. Use three loops and it will probably hold forever. I keep mine and have used it several times, at home...

    help with exhaust question

Take it off and re-attach the hose to the tranny cooler. I've never seen that before and really don't know what it would do other than add 2' to your cooling system.

    Expansion tank gasket

Thanks, Ken. I wasn't sure so I bought gasket goop anyway. I'll put it all back together this week. Any idea how to drain all the coolant from a FL120?

    Lehman 135 Antifreeze?

Does anyone know how to drain the coolant on a ford lehman 120? Can I use a vacuum and where do I suck it out from?

    Expansion tank gasket

I removed my expansion tanks to replace the thermostats and install an overflow system. When I replace the expansion tank should I use leave the gasket dry or spread gasket goop on it? I think dry but gotta ask...

Inspecting Teak Decks on an Old TT

Yeah, they leak. Just accept it. Do you have to fix them right now? No. Do you have to fix them all at once? No. Do soft cores mean you have leaks below? Not necessarily. Look carefully at the fuel tank tops, especially around the fuel fill deck connections. If there is any rust at all...

    Hello to the Forum

Welcome aboard! A lot of us like older boats, like the challenge, like the work. And mostly like the initial price. The cost of bringing the boat up to snuff is spread out over a few years and makes a larger boat affordable. Good luck and have fun!

    Trawler Hunting

I have varnished wood on the window frames, toe rail and cap rail and I'm thinking of painting it grey, over the varnish, and simplifying maintenance. I've seen it done with grey in Mexico and it looked good. I painted the brightwork on our sailboat in Mexico but that was brown over a tan hull.
