    Show me your windlass setup

Hi All, My windlass setup is driving me nuts! The chain locker hole (port?) is to the right and behind of the windlass so it takes two people to pull the anchor. One to run the windlass and one to push the rope down the hole. Does anyone have a better setup? I have 1980 34 CHB. See the pictures...

How much Courtesy is Enough, or too much?

Ask for a disabled spot, Friday harbor will give you one right on the loading dock next to shore! my grandparents use to do that

    Will trawlers disappear?

I agree, but the issue with algal fuels was also getting the right species to grow. Basically a few companies had great success at the beaker stage, but when you move to open ponds other species take over the pond and you get very little product. A few companies have used this tech to create...

    Travel to Canada right now

If you watch Cruising Sea Venture, they just went from Washington to Alaska, seems fine for just a pass through cruise. At the same time I know folks in Bella Bella that are watching every bay in the area to watch for Americans and Canadians in their territory

    Lehman 120 cold start button

the button is where the stop lever connection to the fuel injection pump. In my experience, yes you move the throttle forward, then I normally push the stop lever forward, then push the cold start button. Let go of the stop lever, pull the throttle back down to ~10-20% and fire it up.

    Music on board

Feedback on proposed charging and power system changes

Hi All, thanks for the feedback. We don't have a genset and typically stay at anchor or powerless dock for two days max. With no BMS it is hard to tell how far we run the batteries down. But our power draw is mostly the freshwater pump and nor cold below counter fridge. All of our lights are LED...

    Helm Replacement

I rebuilt mine this winter, it is pretty easy with the factory kits. Not sure what the Syten H-10 system is though, I have a Wagner helm pumps. For my helms the factory rebuilt kits include a gasket and all the o-rings for $50, so $100 for both helms, beats thousands to replace with new units...
