    Zinc sizes

This is from memory, which is rather questionable at this point in time. I had a 1974 DeFever with 2 Perkins 6.354 diesels. Each engine had a pencil zinc on the underneath of the exhaust manifold and a pencil zinc on the round heat exchanger. It's a place to look anyway. Jim

My John Deere decided to take some time off

I think your first instincts were correct and your troubleshooting methods well thought out. Intermittent problems are the worst, and only time will tell you if the fix is lasting. Jim

Slow Hand 2023 To Lake Superior and back

Ted, I was looking at a map of the area you are in and saw Chincoteague road on Governor's Island. Wonder how that name came to New York? Small world indeed. For those who don't know, Chincoteague is a very small town on a barrier island off of Virginia's Eastern Shore. Jim

    Bristol information/history

My father owned the first Bristol Offshore 42', hull #1. As I remember, the hull was glass and the superstructure was made of wood. At least the flying bridge was wood because I remember he had to rebuild a section of it. The decks were most definitely overlaid with teak because it was my job to...

    Engine installation

Harleyguy, The door opening measures 23 1/2"W x 53" H. My homeport is Crisfield, MD. mcarthur, I used the old trannys (Velvet Drive). Had them rebuilt and they bolted up to the new motors using a Cummins adapter. Shafts, props were reused without modification. All else was moving hoses...

    Engine installation

The engines I took out were Perkins.(130 hp?) I replaced them with Cummins 6BTA5.9 that had 300 hours since being rebuilt. Long story short, the Perkins were in need of rebuilding and I got a good deal on the Cummins.

    Engine installation

I'll try and get there tomorrow and measure the opening. They did have to take the heat exchanger off the motors and remove the refrigerator door to have enough clearance.

    Engine installation

I have a 1974 DeFever Passagemaker 40. Replaced the motors and the fuel tanks in 2007. The yard had a contraption that attached to the travel lift that had an articulating arm. I've attached a few pictures.
