    Pilot 30 -Trim

I have a different hull design, but my side exhaust is a bit in the water. Other than getting rid of the Brait part of my combination anchor rode the only forward weight added is 80 more feet of 1/4" chain to the 100 feet the boat came with.

Side window mod Mainship 30 Pilot II

I had it made by a local upholsterer whose shop was near the house. He was willing to do the odd canvas job over the years on both my boats. I helped him measure for it, and it was really simple. I bet you have the in-house talent to handle it.

Side window mod Mainship 30 Pilot II

Here are some more photos of the job. You can see where I gained a lot of visibilty as I hold up the old closure over the new window in the first photo.

Side window mod Mainship 30 Pilot II

I have been off the air on this topic for a while as I conducted my research for this project. I finally settled on Wynne Marine in Tuscumbia, AL for the manufacture of my aluminum framed, three slinging panes windows for both price (about a third the cost of the Florida-based company that...

    Shaft Keel Bushing part needed?

Most boats I see with a flat exit out of the skeg like you have are equipped with a cutless bearing housing there.

Mainship Pilot II 30 salon floor replacement

I cut a four-inch diameter hole in my MS 30 P II's cabin sole to allow me to replace the tripping hazard the table mounting became with the table removed. I used a flush-mounted fitting. Anyway, the veneer is definitely not wood, but the subsurface to which it was bonded to is thick plywood...

Mainship Pilot II 30 water in the cabin

In addition to the source Bacchus mentioned, look closely at the windshield-to-cabin seam. Also look at the portlight rubber seals. I had a leak coming through the Bomar hatch in the cabin top which was quickly taken care of with a very thin line of 3M 5200 made possible using tape on either...

    Repair help needed!

Phelps and me?? In regard to the overhang, I'd look at it as something akin to soffit repair of a house. Cut that mess out of there and renew with some CPES-soaked plywood. As for the rest of that hot mess, I'd break out the sanders and take it all down to whatever layer of paint/gelcoat...

    Auto Pilot

I bought my new AP through a local marine electronics dealer who agreed to come to my boat to survey the mounting locations for the various components to be installed by me. He also was on the hook to come a troubleshoot if his connection directions did not result in a properly working AP. It...

    Auto Pilot

That's what mine was, Benmar Cetek. The drive motor was indestructible, and if yours is working, not a problem to connect to the output of the AP's brain.

    Auto Pilot

My brother (also a TFer) and I had chain and cable drive steering systems on our two Grand Banks 42-footer (you likely have hydraulic) with old analog point-and-go APs. No interface to anything, just course holders. At some point we added chartplotters (in my case to replace the LORAN the boat...

What's your favorite shower sump pump?

When I removed the Rule pump from my sump. I mounted a Gulper atop it with a suction hose run to the bottom of the sump. I left the flipper switch in the sump to turn on the Gulper whenever the shower or AC pan drain enough water into the sump to float the switch.

What is this and what did it look like?

Yes, Those buttons look like something from a switch alright., probably a cutout of some sort.

Possible Lehman 120 injector pump rebuild in San Diego?

Have you checked with the Lehman experts at American Diesel in Virginia? I had one of my twin 120 Lehman's Simms fuel pump overhauled in New Orleans in 1990 for $600. I'd say 1800 is not so bad for San Diego. You could also try the shop I use in Mobile, Test Calibration, test-calibration.com.

    questions from crimping wires

I like to keep all terminations waterproof, and nowadays that means heat shrink connectors. To paulga, you have some options: Goop up both ends of the yellow insulating plastic with liquid tape (I did for years with sometimes mixed results) Solder over the open ends and liquid tape the other...

    Aging

It was not necessarily aging issues that led me to sell my wooden GB42 and transition to my current lift-kept fiberglass boat nine years ago, but now in my late 70s it is nice to be able to press a remote button on a fob while in the house and get to the boat as it first touches water and then...

Depth transducers in an electrical storm?

One good way to protect your communication electronics in a lightning storm iso disconnect the antenna leads. Panel installations make this difficult. Manatee needs a new engine, what to do?

A MS 30? Pilot I presume? I am part of a MS 30 Pilot group, and demand for them seems high. Maybe we could find a buyer if you don't have one. My admiral would go back to the GB42 in a heartbeat, but I know better. Not having anything to do with something that won't fit my boat lift. :)
