    Water Tanks Sight Gauge Tubing

from the invoice, looks like it was VERSILON C-210-A PU I guess that's an option but US Plastics, though they won't recommend a specific product, did say I should look for one that "meets NSF standards". That C-210-A meets FDA... but it does not mention NSF... Anyway, just wondering if anyone...

    Water Tanks Sight Gauge Tubing

Has anyone had better luck with the lifespan of a particular type of flexible clear tubing, safe for water tank sight gauges? I have the same size tubing for the fuel tanks and have already replaced them before; 3/8" ID X 1/2" OD. For fuel it is a Versalon product from US Plastics, but I don't...

Forum Update - We're back! Ask your questions here.

I like the fresh new look! I'm sure it will take a while for people to get used to it but that's always the case, it needed an update IMHO. Oh and no prob with the Avatar, it took me maybe two minutes to simply remove and replace with an appropriately sized pic.

    ArriveCAN and Nexus in 2024

I will say NEXUS is great as others have said for air travel; When we first got it, it was a little cheaper than the other trusted traveler programs, and it automatically came with TSA Pre-Check. This meant even if you never used it for boating, it was still a good deal for other reasons.

    ArriveCAN and Nexus in 2024

Hey since we're on the topic, including Re-entry to the USA: its been a long time since i did this. Am I reading correctly that we will need some kind of DTOPS Decal to Re-enter the USA? We're only planning to re-enter once this year so I likely don't need a full seasonal.....

    ArriveCAN and Nexus in 2024

Thanks much for this info, this is the kind of thing you'd hope a NEXUS card might afford a boater. Its unfortunate these details are hard to nail down; might even get a different story depending on who you get on the phone. FYI: we're currently in the NE area so we're more focused on entry...

    ArriveCAN and Nexus in 2024

I did find this dynamic map of "Telephone reporting Sites/Marine": https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/services/trsm-sdtm-eng.html .

    ArriveCAN and Nexus in 2024

I searched this topic but only found a lot of older tangential discussions of vaccine reporting, which is no longer such a concern. I’ve also reviewed the CBSA sites and still there is some confusion about how these two things relate. I’ll likely call them during business hours but in the...

    New Jersey ICW, current status

Interesting report! As a comparison, we made the journey north on the outside in July this year. We went out from Atlantic City to Sandy Hook in one day starting very early. It took 11.5 hours at an average speed of 8.2 mph, and a total distance of 95 miles. One could obviously shorten the day...

    AIS question. Raymarine AIS700

Chris, Yes thats a great question, I've not used a splitter as I too have a dedicated AIS but from what I've read you are correct in that the voice keying would override or essentially take control of the splitter and interrupt AIS. If your boat is moving somewhat fast, I'd imagine to an outside...

    AIS question. Raymarine AIS700

If your AIS is built into your VHF radio, keying the radio for voice will take precedence and interrupt the AIS transmission. AIS will resume on its next designated period. If you have a separate AIS box, it depends on selected power level and also how close your antennas are mounted. It is...

    AIS question. Raymarine AIS700

One hint about verifying AIS, perhaps you already know this. AIS is hard to check when sitting at a dock because when stationary, it slows down to transmitting position only once every (I believe) 6 minutes or so depending on version you have. The transmit period picks up significantly once the...

    Overnights in Long Island Sound

Did LI sound this summer, some interesting places but boy is it expensive! It's not too far but Old Saybrook Harbor One is a good stop; easy to get in and out and not far off the sound. From there you can diagonal across the sound towards port Jefferson, especially if there is a south wind...

    Boat Dimension - Newbie Question

To answer your question another way: if you're asking is it standard on a Nordhavn... I'd guess not since many of them have a dry stack exhaust going up through the mast. If you're asking in general, yes it depends but many different manufacturers do offer either folding arches or folding...

    Boat Dimension - Newbie Question

If you do join the AGLCA and start reading... you will see that the majority of loopers find their passage through the Trent-Severn canal and Georgian Bay is their favorite part of the trip. For this as others have stated, you just need to get under the Chicago bridge, listed as 19' 1". There's...

    Weather Forecast Models

For the East and the gulf states at least, NASA and science continues to attempt to improve prediction tools. I found this news item interesting, a new set of satellites launched for this problem and are apparently operational just in time for the 2023 Hurricane season... Includes an incredibly...

    Weather Forecast Models

Tom, I know you're on the opposite coast but yes its a struggle to pick the best model. I can tell you in the SE US coast in the past year, we seem to have the closest match by using the GFS model, but no guarantees its still kind of a crap shoot....

    Exterior shading for windows

I'll just mention we did have external window coverings in the beginning... then later we made shades that mount and hang internally. For a few years now, those external shades have been sitting in deep storage. If I had it to do over again, I never would have bothered getting external. The...

Purchasing a boat in Washington State

There's one other option some people pursue if you're ultimately not planning on keeping the boat in Washington(?) We bought a boat in WA but did not intend to keep it there. We did opt for the 1-year cruising permit and by the way it was well worth it; the cruising grounds there like the San...

Eyeing the Loop from Austin, TX

Scook, another thing if you're not aware of to get a feel of different kinds of trawlers is to try to attend a Trawlerfest. Even if you have no plan to buy a new boat, they are a great way to see a lot of different styles of boats and be able to walk around on them and identify what features...

Eyeing the Loop from Austin, TX

Scook, Sounds like a fun plan. We had a dirt place in Ft Worth but never once actually had a boat in Texas.
