To get to the steel on the inside, I had to rip out the fish hold. The horizontal joints have a rolled edge and overlap. This is the starboard side. I know of two holes holes on this side. The other hole is in the fuel tank.

The deepest pit, apart from the holes is 6mm. The hull below the waterline is 8mm. I am building a new rudder, this one is past being salvageable.

My Gardner has 2 bleed screws on the injector pump, instead of pumping for 72hours, I just remove the screws and fill with diesel. Turning the engine without fuel in the injector pump is not a great idea as the diesel lubricates the pump.

It's going into a steel boat, and in all honesty, CO2 poisoning concerns me more than fire. The wood /coal burner is not the prime source of heating , but it is nice to make the most of it when it does get used.

there are few things nicer than sitting I front of a real log fire and we have the space. An unlimited supply of wood helps too.

That's good to know we can preheat the engine using the stove. Most of our cruising on the west coast of Scotland is very rural. We will have a diesel boiler installed aswell so we can get cleaner heat in marinas and keep the heat going when no one is on board..

Does anyone have a solid fuel stove on their boats? We are installing a wood/coal stove with back boiler, that would heat radiators throughout the boat. Has anyone plumbed their heating though the engine so as to warm up the engine on cold mornings before starting it?

Our West Coast is one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world, but our weather can be unforgiving. She will draw about 2m once the new super structure is on. Rangers or Celtic? In a room full of Rangers supporters, I'm a Celtic fan, and vice versa. I prefer rugby.
