Removal of Sand/Epoxy finish on foredeck.

This might sound strange 🫣, but we have/had nonskid on our bow, and we placed the dog turf (plastic with drainage holes), dog pee peeled the nonskid off in sheets. Now I have to be careful when rinsing the turf as big sheets of paint go with it 😮.

    Higher-hour DD 4-53's

We have twin 4-53 Detroit engines in our 1980 Hatteras LRC, they happily growl at 1800 rpm burning 4 gallons per hour at 7.5 knots and have close to 6000 hours on them. They powered us around the loop and back and forth to Maine repeatedly. I wouldn’t have concern about high hours Detroit...

    Recommendation for Stabilizer Service

Naiad stabilizer Naiads are manufactured close to Bridgeport Conn., I had problems with the gyro and they met me at Bridgeport marina and serviced the boat right there. The technician said that they could do seals next door at a yard. Call them and ask, they’ll get you set up, and they were...

Mr Grinch is coming with us this year

Sorry for the delayed reply, we pushed south (anchorages with no Wi-Fi, or cell service) and finally made it to Brunswick landing. We encountered the ice just where you said , at AYB, we refueled and watched a couple vessels push through the much thinned ice compared to your...

Mr Grinch is coming with us this year

Boomerang, was bitter sweet to see you in passing going the wrong way this afternoon, sorry to hear of your trials. As you could see we finally got underway from Deltaville after 2 months, only to arrive at Waterside without port engine reverse, and with the heater not working, air bound, was...

Mr Grinch is coming with us this year

Well Boomerang, you won't be alone. :socool: We're still in Deltaville at Zimmerman marine getting our Hurricane heater replaced. We arrived in early November but due to delayed start, supply chain, and OBS (Old Boat Syndrome, everything touched needs some type of fixing), we're still...

    Hurricane Diesel Heater help

We're sitting in Deltavillle Va. at Zimmerman Marine getting a hurricane heater replacement, (previous owner removed original). When I researched ITR and Hurricane heaters last year, Zimmerman was recommended as the only listed east coast installer. From our experience they are very...

Slainte 1, I think we were both at Hodgdon yachts this summer.:hello: We're in Deltaville Va. now waiting for the completion of the Hurricane heater replacement in our Hatteras 42 LRC (Yes PierreR an LRC). Our boat, an LRC is not well insulated or air tight, ( as evidenced by cool drafts as a...

    It's all relative

Thanks All, NEtrawler58, Glad to hear your doing well, I'm not naive, working in the ER I've diagnosed and saved patients from one aliment only to find the incidentaloma such as the feared lung nodule, shadow on the liver etc. I myself have so far dodged the reaper twice, I guess this makes 3...

    It's all relative

Just a quick update and thank you: My last post I added my 2 cents worth concerning fuel costs and cruising, and I was willing to pay what was needed to achieve my cruising goals with our new to us boat that was still on the hard despite my recent retirement. Fate stepped in and a "Just in...

    Economy and second thoughts...

It's all relative Just 2 cents from a lurker :whistling: I recently bought a new to me boat, FD, twin Diesel, was to be our retirement start, The great Loop, after a 1 1/2 year prep. On initial trip (had 10 days for 1000 miles) at sweet spot (still trying to figure out)7 knots +/- she burns...

    Greetings from Maine

Welcome from a fellow Mainer. :thumb: We're hoping to bring our new to us boat north this summer. Hopefully we'll cross paths. Spent time training with Capt. Tom, whom you may know from the auxiliary.:)

A special warning to lurkers and non-boat owners...

You need to have time to enjoy retirement and not pass before at least a good swing at your bucket list. As some of you know I've been 30 years in emergency medicine and trauma, I've said goodbye to too many people. I officially retired 1/15/22, but due to government rules they could hold me...
