    OceanYachts

It wasn't bigger/nicer enough than the 48 that we currently have to justify the extra cost and it needed some work... we already have a 60' slip so that part would have been easy and bigger is usually better though:-) If we had a bigger family or something we might have gone for it though...

    Clear thermal window coverings

I was struggling with cooling issues and got a cheap FLIR camera. It showed me a couple of areas I could insulate better

Radar and GPS Upgrade Advice Needed

https://www.vexilar.com/pages/navionics I have the SP 200 T-box installed on the inside of the hull, as long as you don't have a cored hull this will work... or if you have outboards you can transom mount it. I wanted mine to be near the front of the boat either way.

Radar and GPS Upgrade Advice Needed

Just my opinion here... the most accurate navigation equipment I've used if navionics on a phone/tablet. The device must have GPS or you need an external gps such as the bad elf. You can also get a wifi depth sounder that works flawlessly with it. The only complaint I have about that setup is my...

Bimini top replacement and hard top advise please!

Ahh yes I see now. Were you worried about the weioof those affecting the ride? And how many watts are those?

Bimini top replacement and hard top advise please!

Just got a quote from them for $2500, so same price as canvas. The poly carbonate panels look a little cheesy though. I'm sure it'll last longer than fabric for the same price but I'm not sold on the square look.

Bimini top replacement and hard top advise please!

Love that boat! I almost bought a marine trader 50' in that style. Do you have any pictures with the panels on?

Bimini top replacement and hard top advise please!

Sooo my bimini finally let go, I took it down and got a quote for a new one: $2500 for Stamoid 80" marine vinyl*132" long and 141" wide. It has an arch at the back and 3 SS support (bows?) Question 1: is that a good deal (key west) Long term I want to do a solar bimini and I'm trying to...

Boat transportation from Gulf to Michigan

I'm cruising my new (to me) boat home and having a blast. Highly recommend.

    Galveston liveaboards

There was a DeFever 44 I loved the layout of and would have bought at Watergate last year if it had 2 more inches of headroom

Because boats are so much more fun than airplanes when the engines are off.

    Living aboard/ airline pilot

That's encouraging... I'm gunna stick with my current gig for this cruising season, the schedule is too awesome and I'm about to upgrade... but come may I'll be back in clear lake looking to move on again!

    Living aboard/ airline pilot

Between making friends with as many locals/fellow livaboards as possible, and a half a dozen wificans, and a big anchor I don't think it's that bad unless a hurricane comes.

    Living aboard/ airline pilot

I've been living aboard with your similar schedule for 3 years now, and have been on the move and cruising/at anchor since September (left right after Dorian, made it to KW for fantasy fest and haven't left). I have a GPS tracker, wifi, and multiple webcams on my boat including one looking at...

    Review of Spot Lights

I've had both of these. The LED one is much better. Batteries are never an issue because it uses the same batteries all of my power tools AND it'll plug directly into the cigarette lighter plug . Also the new lithium ryobi batteries have built in charge indicators. https://youtu.be/NTMoQXGdfnE

    Galveston liveaboards

I lived on a 37 double cabin trawler for a few year on clear lake. I'm in key west on my next boat now :-) I know a few who live in both Galveston marinas. And looked at many boats for sale between Galveston and clear lake. There are a few broker piers at south shore and Watergate, I'd...

visiting the FL Keys by Road

As others have said Lorelei's in Islamorada is awesome by boat OR by car. Live music every sunset, a nice dinghy dock, a great anchorage, and it's walking distance to a west marine and many other bars and restaurants. I also enjoyed Gilbert's by boat they have a very convenient fuel dock, a...

    Keys after first of year

Yeah I didn't even imagine there would be a rule against it or I wouldn't have told them what my plans were. I surely could have gotten away with it for 2 weeks.

    Loop Boat

You should stick to the flybridge, it's like a large outdoor covered living area. On both boats I've spent time there even when not underway. The view and visibility are all much better up top. If you're ever going to be single handedly cruising you'll probably enjoy having the lower helm and...
