The 12.9" iPads can be purchased used or refurb. Cheap, big screen.

    teak deck replacement (Albin 43)

Replace them. Sold an Albin that had 3 coats of non skid paint on the teak. Should have left it there. Looked nice, but became leaky.

nav program for 32 gb iPad Pro?

Navionics. Agree with the auto route. Use a Bad Elf for GPS as it is not restricted to cell service.

    Hurricane Florence

Looking at the National Weather Service data against another report I heard of 80'+ swells inside the hurricane. Nice site with clickable data points. Not sure I believe the 80 footers, but they are having 50 foot seas based on NWS info...

    Who had right of way?

Exactly. We weren’t there. Here is a local article quote: “We are THANKFUL everyone was safe in that boating accident that's been so widely shared today on FB.... Here's a statement from our friends at Chesapeake Boating Club... This morning (August 17) at approximately 11:30 a.m, a member...

Ducks go well with potatoes and carrots too. Suggested with a white wine.

    Who had right of way?

Almost sorry I started the original thread. When I saw the first reports and pictures, my thought was not right away, but who had to change underwear after that. Happily no one was hurt. The lawyers will figure it out. Having said that, I can say that on a number of occasions we’ve taken quick...

    Best practice needed...

Thanks for feedback. The opening is tight and I am fat. Cooking doesn’t make the second problem better either.

Solenoid system works well. Next weekend we may live on the wild side and leave it open overnight.

    Best practice needed...

Not live aboard but staying overnight more. We have an ABYC propane locker properly vented. Every time we’re done with the cooktop, I shut the gas off at the bottle under the cowl of the flybridge. I’m OCD. Everything is tight. Shutting off after every use necessary?

    And meanwhile in the Chesapeake...

Still - there is a lot of open water in the picture. Somebody wasn't watching what they were doing, and probably both of them. I'm surprised that no one was killed.

    And meanwhile in the Chesapeake...

Pic is correct. More have been posted locally. This should buff out.

Get home propulsion - strange ideas

Outboard motor on swim platform? Works as long as you have enough gas.

    Newbie

Welcome aboard Echo the A/C sentiment. Also larger fridge is a necessity. Many of the boats in your range have an under-counter like mine. OK for a weekend, but not much longer - especially if you cool bottled water or other beverages. mike

    Capt. License Requirements

Almost tried two weeks ago. Glad I didn’t. I’d be the one jamming up the line, although Southwest gives TSAPre away for free often at BWI making my Pre line longer than the usual line. Unfortunately SWA goes everywhere I need to go.

    Capt. License Requirements

Also review GRT specs. Weight in lbs. and GRT are two different things. Question- did the TWIC get you through TSA? I’m already TSA Pre, but it would be cool if my TWIC would work too.

    Chesapeake Debris

The runoff will have an effect on blue crab harvest - therefore the local economy this year. The northern bay was a mess. Didn’t bother going out due to debris. Whole trees, logs, and other things that can cause nasty damage. With the sewage runoff, forget swimming.

    Propane storage on Taiwan builds

Opinion Under eyebrow ABYC approved container. Vented overboard. Solenoid. All safe. One gallon tank. Just began cooking aboard and enjoying it - getting over the fear of using propane in the salon. How long should a gallon of propane last? Hours? Anyone know? mike

    Chartplotter / Autopilot

BTW- the screens are nice and large even the daytime. Was initially looking to plop down a number of boat dollars on hard mount navigation, but thought it was senseless in my older boat, and the current tools are updated daily for my subscription fee of $24 annually.

    Chartplotter / Autopilot

We use an iPad Pro 12.9” screen with Navionics. GPS signal comes from a “Bad Elf” receiver. It’s reliable and connects Bluetooth to the iPad and doesn’t have the jitters like using the cell signal does. I think we paid around $150 for the Bad Elf and it is not dependent on cell service. My other...

    A lake tragedy

The Philadelphia article linked in this thread mentions something about not using the canopy dated in 2016. No canopy and everyone with a PFD may have lessened the extent of tragedy.
