    Prop size 34 LRC

Hi all, here are my numbers for a LRC 34 with twin cat 3208's (210 hp): When I bought Outer Marker she came with 3 blade 21x25 props which gave 16 knots at WOT (2800 rpm). I generally keep the rpm on the lower side to conserve fuel. At 1800 rpm these props gave 8.5 knots while using about 3.5...

    Dry rot

Hi Larry, I assume you are referring to the metal edge trim? For this I used 1 1/4" radius edge tempered aluminum tubing (available at your local metal store). I cut it into an "L" shape, leaving about 1/8" at the top and 3/8" at the bottom. The aluminum cuts easily with a metal blade in a...

    Dry rot

Thanks Al, the finish I used was minwax helmsman varnish satin finish - it is readily available and relatively inexpensive, goes on easily, and had an honorable mention in Practical Sailor. I am also trying their gloss finish on the exterior brightwork.... Cheers, Herb

34 LRC Motor Lifting Davit and Transom Mount

A very common davit system in BC is the seawise system: Home - Sea Wise Davit System It is quite ingenious - the engine mount hinges off the transom, keeping the outboard stored in a vertical position. It is simple to use and recovery/deployment is easy. The only downside is that with an...

    Dry rot

I've been there! I was just about to post this on a new thread but it is relevant to this one, so here are some thoughts and musings regarding soffit (overhang) dry rot and water leaks into the LRC 34 Californian cabin. My wife noticed that there was rot in the bottom of our stbd aft overhead...

Exhaust manifold and risers for my 3208 210 hp NA

ditto for the greenwater marine SS dry risers. I replaced the 4 risers on my LRC 34 last year, they are a far superior design than the original cat design. Fast delivery, no fitting issues, cheaper than buying oem risers, and a great company to deal with.

    Need 34 LRC settee dimensions

Here are some images and dimensions. I would think about NOT putting the sloping back on - it seems to take up a lot of space and construction material where a pillow may do the same job. The construction is 5/8 plywood. There is a leg that folds down at the rear corner when the bed is...

    Need 34 LRC settee dimensions

Hi Bob, I have a 1981 LRC 34. I am just in the middle of doing some interior repairs, I will be at the boat tomorrow and will take some measurements and pics. I think the table is original - it is one of those folding hi/lo tables with leaves. I am in North Vancouver so not too far away if you...

    New (to us) LRC 34

Sounds like you and your Californian have seen some interesting waters! That was one of things that attracted us to LRC 34; all of the articles and previous owners said they were very seaworthy. We have not had Outer Marker in any significant seas - about a 3' chop which she just plowed...

    New (to us) LRC 34

Thanks for the suggestions, my wife and I spent the weekend recaulking bridge fittings and the flashing and our weather has moved back to rain so I can check if we have stopped the water ingress. I want to make certain that we have before replacing any wood. FlyWright - you are correct, the...

    New (to us) LRC 34

I posted this on the "welcome mat" and thought I should repost here, sorry for the duplication. My wife and I are the happy owners of a 1981 Californian LRC 34 "Outer Marker" SN 3416781. She has twin Cat NA 3208s (210 hp) and a 5Kw genset. I must admit I have been lurking on this site for over...
