Firefly Batteries Check out Firefly batteries. Cheaper than Lithium and you get 95% of the rated capacity. And they are almost bullet proof and will last longer that AGMs though I don't know how they compare to Lithium. I've had 5 of them in my trawler for the past three years and love them.

I have a Lewmar V1 windlass on my 2006 Mainship 34T. Can the motor for the windlass be rebuilt? It seems to be running a bit slower than usual and has some surface rust on the casing. Thanks. Harlen

Sorry Pmcsurf1 I lost track of this thread. My installer insisted on buying the chain to ease delivery to the yard where he works. I believe it came from our local Fisheries Supply. Cost was $1,670 delivered. Harlen

Doug, We find our front opening small refrigerator makes it difficult to see what is in the back part of the fridge. A drawer model with two drawers would make it easier. Harlen

The budget is somewhat flexible as I am willing to pay more for a better and more functional unit. I would also like to hear from anyone who is using newer Raymarine and Garmin systems, as well as some of the other ones that have been mentioned.

According to my installer, only the autopilot can be kept, likely because it is an independent unit. The radar and transducer won't connect with the new equipment, which is fine with me as they are also significant upgrades.

You also have to make sure the other window is fully closed for the sliding window to connect via the slot.

The overheads are hard to pull out so that you can get at the bulbs. I broke one. Then I used a length of wire that I inserted under and around the flange and pulled it out with that which worked better.

If you have to replace the batteries, check out the Firefly battery. It is a new design that is mostly immune to deep charging. You can also use 90% of their rated capacity. I have them on my boat and like them very much. They cost more but last longer. Firefly International Energy
