    Happy wife happy life? Hmmm

This reminds me of an old joke. Newly married wife "Now that we're married, you can get rid of that boat!" Husband "You starting to sound like my X wife!" Wife "I didn't know you were married before.." Husband "I wasn't......."

oil leak on 2 stroke leg

Is the oil coming from the exhaust port of the prop? if so that is evaporated gasoline/and residual oil left over. Oil does not evaporate therefore runs out of the exhaust. Had a 25hp yamaha the would do the same . Run your carb. dry after using your outboard by disconnecting the fuel hose...

Do you leave your VHF radio on?

Down along the Gulf coast, when anchored anywhere near the Intercoastal at night, the conversations between the cajun tugboat capts. is far better entertainment than whats on tv. I do leave mine on.

    November trip

will ya be jumping from Marco directly to Apalachicola? in a smaller boat (36ft) I would consider moving north along the coast at least to Tarpon Springs before crossing the Gulf. As you know weather can change from warm, southerly winds to 30kts cold front blows in just a few days. Watch...

    Rust specks from construction

Seems to me that this construction outfit should hold accountability for damages to your boat. Lawyer-in-a-Can might be useful. Sorry to hear about your problem, hope it works out. I would not let the imbedded steel stay in the fiberglass. you'll be fighting this for a long time. What marina...

    Pensacola area hurricane prep

#1 Dude! Go to Marina Beau Chenes web site. This marina is in a very high end development. You need a pass just to get into the development....very exclusive area! You park right behind your boat 10ft away. Yes there are some run down marinas along the way, but agian there are a few there...

    Pensacola area hurricane prep

May i recommend Beau Chenes on the northshore of lake Ponchetrain. Best hurricane protection in La.! You 're 30 minutes from New Orleans. Great day cruises east or west, top marine mechanics in area, boat Maintenace at marina.

    Pensacola area hurricane prep

Ya might want to check w/ Pelican Point Marina in Bayou Chico, which is less than a mile or 2 from Palafox Marina. They have haul out service and a hurricane "club" which gives you a spot for a haul out.

Boat Sinks in White Marlin Open

I wonder if the boat had a fish on at the time of sinking. With those sea conditions backing down on a large fish to gain line on them would put the cockpit area under a lot water with waves breaking over the transom. Most sport fisherman have large scuppers to drain water from that area. Just...

Water in Outboard Gear Oil, Maybe

I'm 99% sure that you have water in your lower unit. You need to pull that unit, expose the water pump housing. Check to see if there is any of that same colored oil coming from the prop exhaust. If so the gear assembly needs to be resealed with new gaskets and shims. The most prevalent area...

    1988 vintage Cat 3208's

Had these exact engines in my last boat. The only service to these engines were cleaning the heat exchangers and routine oil and service. Ya look at the key and they start! Over heating, as in most engines, is a killer. I ran mine @ 1600rpm giving me 7-8kts. BTW Are you a commercial diver?

    1988 vintage Cat 3208's

Are these engines NA (250hp) or they Turbos 375-425hp? If engines have been maintained by Cat standards along with running at trawler speeds they are very reliable. 5,000 hours without rebuild is not uncommon.

Signing on. It’s good to be back on the water

I wondered how long it would be before you guys came back to the water. All the years of you and Cherry exploring the Gulf Coast and the Keys, the sea and adventure is in your blood. Beautiful GB! What anchor and engines you have? Pics would be great! Enjoy every moment guys.

    Pensacola area hurricane prep

Fajah, Many locals run to the high banks of the ditch between Destin and Panama. Warning! This area can become a party zone during named storms! Bow and stern anchors with long lines running to trees on banks. Heading east sounds best at this time.

Coffee challenge, Freeze dried versus pod crap

Keurig makes a too weak cup for my taste. Being a coffee snob my first choice is a French drip cup of Community Coffee dark roast (local). For special occasions Jamaican Blue Mountain gets a 100.

Cummins 6BT on a 40 ft crew boat

Call Breaux Brothers. I'm sure they can give you any info needed on your hull. They made 100s of these crew boats. 1-337-229-4232, Loreauville LA.

Cummins 6BT on a 40 ft crew boat

Very familiar with these boats. Owned a 24ft offshore fishing boat made by Breaux Bay Craft. Is this the look of your boat? I believe this 40ft has 671 turbos...will plane this hull loaded up.

Have boat manufacturers gone NUTS ?

I would pay the fuel bill to be co-captain/throttle man for a couple of hours. Besides, going 70mph pulls all the wrinkles off your face....you'll look 30 years younger!

    48 foot californian

Having had a boat with those Cats it seems you're not going to have enough fuel to make it in a straight shot at 8kts. You're looking at a 80hr trip coming out of N.O. if the weather and sea conditions are good. With twin 3208 (350hp)you looking 6-8 gallons/hr running at 8kts. I would love to...
