Single with stern thruster - no bow thruster

I have owned a single engine trawler with no thrusters for the last 12 years. We did install a stern thruster 3 years ago and it has been a very nice addition. I have no trouble putting the bow where I want it to be most of the time and being able to move the stern without bumping ahead/astern...

American Diesel/Lehman 135 Lift Pump Fitting

I ran into this problem a few years back days before heading off on vacation. Took several fittings into a machine shop along with the fuel pump and had them chuck the fittings into a lathe and turn back the hex until it cleared. I keep two as spares on board.

    Looking at Suzuki DF20

I have a Suzuki DF20 on my 11.5ft rib. Love the engine, sips fuel, starts every time. I don't need all that horsepower, except when I have 4 adults on board and it helps get us up on plane.

    Fresh Water Pump Noise

I just replaced our old and tired fresh water pump with a newer Jabsco version. The pump runs great, lots of pressure but it rattles the copper lines back to the water tanks! Super noisy. Some kind of water hammer effect? There is a section of flexible hose between the pump and the copper...

    CAV Conversion kits

NAPA 3361 The kit gives a bunch of different filters that will fit, I chose these because they were shorter in height and fit nicely.

The last Vancouver Boat Show was February 2020. My wife and I along with another couple attended. The last thing we went to before COVID interrupted everything.

    Lehman 120 - Paragon P200 P23L Transmission Needed

Good Evening: I know this is a Trawler audience, but I have a good friend who is currently in Panama on his Transpac 49 (which is a sailboat). The boat has a Lehman 120 in it, with a Paragon P200 P23L Transmission, and reverse gear has failed. Prior to this, he was a trawler guy for 40 years...

    Upsizing a V belt on a FL 120

I upgraded to a serpentine belt 3 years ago when I went to a bigger alternator. Zero belt dusting, and the belts last quite a long time. It wasn't exactly a plug and play installation: Pulley alignment is critical to get right, and in order to properly accomplish this I had some shims of...

Which Spare parts for Lehman 120

Our boat has a Ford Lehman 120, and we cruise BC waters between Sidney and Desolation Sound regularly. Do I Really Need Stern Thusters

I just installed a stern thruster on our single engine trawler after 10 years of ownership. I do just fine without it but there have been a few times over the years that it would have come in handy: Backing in a straight line and moving the stern off the dock when departing (I usually back...

    Autopilot/Steering System Component Identification

I'm going to stick my head in there with my phone and grab some more detailed pictures. However, I am leaning to the conclusion that it is a check valve, probably installed to allow easy removal or isolation of the pump if required. If this is in fact the case, there is no harm in leaving it...

    Autopilot/Steering System Component Identification

I stripped out the original "Benmar" autopilot and installed a new autopilot system into our trawler 7 years ago. At the time the old Benmar autopilot pump was working fine so we just continued using it. Well, it is now getting a little tired and the pump has some leaking. I am going to...

looking for info on CB try cabin trawler

This is a pretty typical CHB 34 that looks reasonably well maintained - at least from the pictures. The price is about what a decent one is selling for right now. https://www.usedvictoria.com/power-boats/39286451 At this vintage they can be well maintained or absolutely shot. Very popular...

    Lazarette Hatch Replacement

Amazingly I don't have a photo of the current hatch. Will get one this weekend. Essentially it is a 27" x 36" hatch (approximately), with NO attachment. It just sits in the molded in cavity. The extreme weight of the silly thing holds it in place. As you can imagine it is a bear to handle -...

    Lazarette Hatch Replacement

I would like to build a new lazarette hatch for my boat, as the old one is a heavy, unwieldy unit that seems to be finally starting to fail. My thoughts are fiber glassed plywood, maybe with a welded aluminum backing structure or straight aluminum/powder coated and non-skid applied. Stiff and...
