    Pacific NW

Hello Ken, I have spent my working career on boats, mostly in the engine room but always testing, running, sea trials, delivering and coaching newbies. My choice for the waters of the Pac. NW and North is a 45 CHB Pilot house, single 671 Detroit and a bow thruster. A little hard to find, but...

Any thoughts on a 42' CHB Europa?

Our previous boat was a 31 Ericson Cutter. 9 years of motoring around Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands, then moved up to the 45 CHB. No regrets after 7 years TRAWLING the Puget Sound and North. Single 671 Detroit with 24 volt bow thruster. Windage is not a problem. CHB is an under rated boat.

    Sailor in the mist

The wife and I spent 9 years traveling around the San Juan Islands in our 31' Erickson Cutter. For the most part, we really enjoyed it, but there was a lot of time spent motoring instead of sailing. Our last trip was 127 miles and in that we never set the sails. At the next to the last stop on...

Wood boats can be a pain; Dad's can be a pain, but we love them both dearly. God bless you and your family during this time.

    Newbie

Yes, Alaska is on the bucket list for 2 years from now but in the mean time, we cruise the San Juan Islands and up into Canada. Our home is 2 hours from Deception Pass and from there, it's a mater of how much time we have. I know you can get a good CHB and a not so good CHB but isn't that...

    Warning near la conner

At the Southern entrance to the Swinomish Chanel there is a submerged log in-between the red and the green markers. One of our club members hit it resulting in major damage to his GB. Pulled the shaft out of the coupler, broke the engine motor mounts and damaged the prop. Stay close to the Green...

    Newbie

After having a 31' sailboat for 9 years, we wanted something bigger with more creature comfort. We have had Slow Flight (45 CHB) for 6 years and plan to keep it for many more as it is a good fit, (for us). But consider this. If you plan to have company on most cruises, you will want a...

    Otters be gone!

So who has more territorial greed, people or the otters? So far no people have pooped on my dock. If they do, I will be looking for a People Predator to put on the dock. Something that really scares people away. HUMMMM !!

    Otters be gone!

OK, so here's a question nature boy. Would you train you dog to poop outside or just let him poop in the house? A few days ago I stopped my truck got out and removed a stunned Robin from the middle of the road before the little guy got squished. I love animals, even Otters but God gave them...

    Otters be gone!

Well I hope it's not to soon to say it worked, but so far so good. We moved in to our new home last June and much to my surprise there were already several residents making home here as well. A family of Otters visited our dock on a regular basis. Fun to watch but what they leave behind is...
