Safe and effective are contradictory terms for drain cleaners. If I had problematic drain traps I would replace them. Easy and inexpensive solution. If you have cheap ribbed drain hose then you will always have problems. Vinegar can help with shower drains.

I had the same problem...stripped threads on the injection pump. I installed tapered silicone plugs. You can buy a lifetime supply on amazon for $10. The plug works great. The injection pump sump is not under pressure.
