Exploring the Sea of Cortez in our 4788 Bayliner

The Eiffel church in Santa Rosalia is still on my bucket list. A prefab stamped-steel structure designed by Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel to be sent to Africa, it was first assembled in Paris (winning an award) and then reassembled in Brussels, where it was purchased by a mining company and sent to...

    FL 120 Heat Exchanger

That location is where the pencil zinc is on my Lehman. The first time I removed it, there was no pencil zinc in the fitting. A little water came out, so I put it back in and went off to the store for a new zinc. When I returned and removed it again, there was a zinc. Apparently I had managed...

    Ballast bar on steel keel?

LeoKa, Go into the app's settings. It records X, Y, Z, and G (G being the total). X, Y, and Z are roll, pitch, and heave in boat terms. You are only interested in roll right now (Just X, the red line). Turn off everything else. Although the program is an accelerometer, I use the G-force...

DIY project: Adding a fuel consumption data to older diesel

Digiflow make models up to hundreds of gallons per hour, presumably enough for a 6YL. One would temporarily install one on the intake ($50) and one for the return ($50). Make a graph and remove them (the fewer connectors on the fuel lines the better). If any need for "related numbers" in the...

    Ballast bar on steel keel?

The app I'm using is Physics Toolbox. It can create a graph for several minutes, or longer, if your boat can rock that long. (All you need to graph is the Y function.) Then hit the pause button at the top of the screen. Use your fingers to "pinch" the graph on the phone screen to get as much...

    24mm exhaust through hull fitting

The same reason that people buy from VTurboWay and pay $2 more than WAYSKA.

    Ballast bar on steel keel?

You don't need .cvs file data for this. You are only interested in timing the roll accurately. Hopefully, your app has just a visual graphing function that you can save. Look at post #68 in the thread linked below. The first picture is a screen shot of the accelerometer while I was rocking...

    Ballast bar on steel keel?

Found one. Kind of pricey, but looks salty. It would be like taking a tape measure on a fishing trip. Ruin a lot of good stories.

    Ballast bar on steel keel?

I'm not sure that my statement of the weight of the added diesel tanks is correct. Are the added "keel tanks" the blister looking things visible on outside of the keel?" Or are they tankage that was added inside the original keel area? Also, as to the reported 22 degree rolls, I've been...

Very cool youtube series-Onne van der Wal Cruising their 32 Grand Banks

Did you see the finish on his exterior teak? Does he explain that in any of his videos? Can't really call it brightwork, but it sure looks nice. Enquiring minds want to know.

LeoKa, I didn't read the details of the 2008 survey carefully. There are some more numbers and statements there that both answer and raise additional questions. The 2008 survey says: In addition, the 2008 survey says: That's a lot of confusing information. When I look at an old survey, the...

    Fuse in ground wire.

The reason that I heard for not having a fuse in the negative is that whatever gizmo that the wiring powers (usually some motor) will likely be the cause of a short. It is possible that, as the gizmo starts to burn up, it finds it's own ground. Power would still be going through the short even...

    Flies

There is a cheap and dirty way to make window screens using the "hook" part of the Velcro self-stick tape. Stick on pieces of the hook material around the window. Cut out a piece of no-see-um netting of approximately the same size. Push it on to the Velcro hook tape while stretching tight...

    Why a secondary fuel filter?

Is this some kind of proprietary housing and filter? It may be possible to replace the housing with an off-the-shelf setup from NAPA and then be able to buy $12 filters in the future and return to 30s for the Racor. If that is possible, I'm sure somebody on the web talks about it.
