Physics question - which line method is stronger?

Nope, neither double braid nor three strand.

Physics question - which line method is stronger?

Line strength Any line is weakest at stress point where it bends; the weakest point tying up is the cleat on the boat, probably the eye splice secured over the cleat. Method A distributes load to two weak points. That said if routinely tying to pilings a large eye splice to slip over piling is...

    Grand Banks Window Washer

Thank you for the replies, very helpful. The "piping" I traced probably is not related, based on looking at my own diagrams and the feedback but leaves me wondering what the tiny plastic piping is for? I'll investigate further later today and share any revelations I have on the system and the...

    Grand Banks Window Washer

I have a 1987 Grand Banks 36 Classic. There is a window washer solenoid switch and I can trace the washer piping back to the port water tank but I don't see a separate pump for the system. Original boat plumbing diagram suggests the washer piping is somehow tied to the cold water line running...

    GB 36 Classic Seacocks

GB 36 Seacocks Frosty, Thanks for the detailed response. I have to apologize for my poor typing: "...is anyone new..." was supposed to read "...if anyone knew...". Anyway what you said about the through-hulls is what I was wondering; the bronze on the GB, an exceptionally well bonded boat...

    GB 36 Classic Seacocks

Hi Everfor, The original post I asked is anyone new the size of the seacock and through-hull for the original aft head overboard. Never actually got a for sure answer (some one suggested 1-3/4"). I intend to replace it but had also asked about the through-hulls; assume that requires...

    GB 36 Classic Seacocks

The little solid brass plate is one of 8 wrapped in a small plastic bag with #6-1/2" FH SS WD Screws, enough for all holes. I found the package in an engine room bin with spare parts. At first I thought they must be cabinetry related but yesterday searching for ground junction posts I saw some...

Connector Plates So, unrelated and not sure if it's cool to ask an unrelated question in thread but any of you folks know what the little connector plate in attached phots is for? It has four holes, each pair counter sunk from opposite side.

    GB 36 Classic Seacocks

No the rubber drum types are obsolete; I was hoping to replace the seacock only, not the thru hull which appears to be fine. Are you suggesting both should be replaced as a matter of course? Thanks for the reply!

    GB 36 Classic Seacocks

Aft Head Seacocks The aft head seacocks, supply and discharge are original Groco tapered rubber drum type; the supply is capped off and in closed position. The toilets are Sealand electric fresh water flushed types still connected to the original discharge seacock. That is the one I want to...

    GB 36 Classic Seacocks

Any GB 36 Classic owners, late 1980's in particular, know the sizes of the original Groco rubber drum type seacocks, aft head discharge in particula?

    Fastening Plates

As I continue inventorying all the stuff on my new-to-me GB 36 classic in a bin with spare engine parts I found a small plastic bag with 8 small brass plates with 2 pairs of counter sunk holes, two hole counter sunk one side the other two the other side, photo attached. I can not figure out...

    Room to Maneuver

Buying Boats I believe always have a business plan when spending lots of money on anything. For boats, for me, the business plan is how to reduce risk on the downside-what am I willing to spend and how much of the investment I want to get back when I sell it-what is the threshold of pain on the...

    Furuno Navnet C-Map VX2

Anyone connected a Furuno Navnet C-Map VX2 system to a multiplexer? I can't figure out how to tie a multiplexer to the sytem; a new buss between the AP controller and an output cable from the Furuno Navnet C-Map VX2? BTW I've talked to Furuno, no easy feat, and they gave me some info but just...
