    St. Lucie Lock Closure Proposal

When I lived in South Florida the annual closing of the lock each year was a given, the Notice to Mariners put out the schedule each year. We would plan our crossings to coincide with the schedules. I think the closings where for a shorter period of time, possibly weeks not months?

    Ta Chiao Trawler

Largest and best 35 Trawler in the world I had a 1985 35 for years. There where only 12 of them built and mine had twin Super 90 Ford Tractor engines with a 5.0 Westy generator. Over the years I did many upgrades and major maintenance. The toughest being replacing both iron fuel tanks. From my...

    Bahamas

Bahama crossing The Bahama Tourist Office has (had) flings to cross in groups, only requirement was the boat had to be 22 feet in length, properly registered and insured. Flings would leave Ft Lauderdale in different groups based on crusing speed, some made Bimini in 2.5 hours, some 8 hours...

    Bow Thruster Performance

I had a Side Power thruster on my 30' Pilot and would bump it for a maximum of 10 seconds, never trip the thermo switch in 5 years of ownership, can't remember the specs but I had an 8" tunnel.

    Missing Firefighters Update

Missing Firefighters 50 to 60 miles off shore, sharks. If they went in the water they where gone within an hour or so. Friends that fish this area say sharks are as thick that they just nudge their boat all the time.

    Boatpix??....>

You can easily spend $500. For a set of 3 photos. My take is that the business is short lived for them. Voters are much more expensive to operate than a $1,500. Drone.

Newly proposed marina in St. Augustine

Sea Ray consolidated the building of all larger vessels in Palm Coast, Florida. On any given day there are at least 10 large boats in the water being tested or prepared for delivery. The yard is now in the e process of expanding again and employees over 700 people. The big difference is that a...

    Mainship Pilot 30

You can say it's just a day boat, but we spent 6 weeks on her one year. Left St. Augustine and went to the Keys. Took 5 days to get to Key West, spend three weeks running around the reefs. Spent every night either in a marina or on the hook. Ours had a Sea Power 5.0 Kw Generator driven of the...

    Mainship Pilot 30

I had a 1999 with the 240 (4LHSTE) and it ran great, easy on to plane with trim tabs and would cruise on plane at 2,800 RPM while burning 4 gallons per hour.

Florida West Coast Burnt Store Marina

Burnt Store [We have decided to stay in Palm Coast, we looked all over the West Coast from Tarpon Springs south and could not find anything to replace what we have here for less than a Million. At this stage of life, I don't need to spend that much money for a residence that needs work and is...

Florida West Coast Burnt Store Marina

Burnt Store We looked at BS for a new home, passed on it when we found out you cannot buy a dock or slip, must rent and you are at the mercy of the owner operator. Bottom line, never buy real estate in Florida that doesn't include ownership of deep water access.

    Dock Pedestals

I and several of my neighbors have Tidewater Pedestals. 50 Amp, 30 Amp and 15 Amp outlets plus water and TV and a docklight with Photo Cell to turn light on and off. Powder coated and sits about 12" off the dock. I think I paid around $700. for mine.

    Ocean Alexander 38 Fuel Tank

When I replaced both tanks (160 gals each) (35' CT Trawler) we had to remove both engines, hung them in the salon on an "A" frame, one at a time, removed old tank, installed new tank, reinstalled the engine, then on to the next tank, same process. Cost was around $12,000. 8 hours to take out...
