On the BC Coast with my new Trawler

Today I found a CHB34 tri-cabin social group on here that was created a couple of years ago, but doesn't seem to be active. Suggest we could hop on there and revive it.

Hi! We purchased Dragonfly this spring from Sidney, and kept the existing name. Fortunately teak decks had already been removed, as well as fuel tanks. New stainless tanks have about half the capacity of the cast iron originals. Most updates done two owners ago. Surveyor said it was one of the...

Boat house vs. custom (canvas) cover

We pay $400/month ($4,800 annually) for our slip, while the boathouse we saw for sale at a nearby marina was for sale for $20,000 or $25,000, plus $1,000/month ($12,000 annually) moorage. Boat house vs. custom (canvas) cover

You can't beat a boathouse for protecting and preserving your boat, and even your hull will stay clear longer. That being said, having to drive an hour to your boat is a significant trade-off. Our boat was kept in a boat by the last owners, and we looked into it for our boat. It's difficult to...

Belated welcome from another new CHB 34 owner! We just bought ours at the end of March and are still getting to know our boat. Our marina has a boat lift, so I'm always watching for other trawlers, and especially CHBs.

Possible trawler owner by end of month

Belated update: the boat is ours! We took possession of it at the end of March, and were lucky enough to have a good weather window then to motor it from Sidney to Nanaimo. We've been busy since then cleaning, tinkering and equipping it.

Cut up heavyweight outdoor rubber-backed mats we got from Costco. Love the teak and holly floor, but the rubber mats dampen the noise and vibration from the engine.

I literally laughed out loud at that. That's why we're switching to a trawler!:D
