    Deck Cranes and Dinghy Davits

In my avatar it shows us using a weaver tilt up. That was when we had the rib (my wife hated the rib and so did I). I now have a Olson Ross-Kelly stern davit thats powered by a 12v winch which works just fine. My 13 foot whaler and 35hp Johnson weighs 850#. I have seen this transom davit on...

    Diesel Fuel

Is anyone hearing anything about Ethenol enriched or low sulpher diesel fuel making it's way into the Marine market?

    Dockage fees

$4980 per year with 220v power (42' uncovered) - Gig Harbor Wa. And that is at a bit of a discount because we're in the first slip and at times the depth behind the boat is too shallow to get in and out. There are cheeper slips in Port Orchard and Bremerton but I like seeing Mt. Ranier rather...

    Christmas Cruise

Enjoy your trip - I too am envious. Next summer I'll get 2 weeks up in the San Juans where my swimming will be done in a 1/4" Neoprene dry suit with my nice warm fleece liner - Burrr!! (Wow a Christmas cruise without the heater going full blast - un-imaginable.) Have a Very Merry Christmas!!!

    Exterior trim

One thing to consider when thinking of UHMW. I work it with carbide blades, bandsaws and routers. It is SO dense that it will deflect a blade. I've cut angled 2x3x1" blocks to fair a mounting point using a 100 tooth 10" carbide blade and had it deflect the blade. Same thing with the bandsaw...

Honduras is my favorite as well. I carve a LOT of pieces from it.

    Help! That last Christmas gift.

What about destination address entry? I saw my cousin trying to enter an address and it came up with 4 matches. Anything to look for there?

    Help! That last Christmas gift.

NOT marine related but here goes... This morning my wife had to drive herself to work (I always drive - it's 80 miles one way thru multiple ugly traffic areas). It was raining and dark and she got lost. I got her location, used mapquest from home and guided her to work. Problem solved. So...

    Exterior trim

Curved instillations - especially those that you can't brace - you will have to experiment. If you are using something thin (1/4") first try tape. I use the 2" wide boxing tape as it sticks well and if you take it off within 24 hrs it usually does not leave a glue (if painting after I'd still...

Photo Gallery - All Members Boats

Surveyor1, I'd like to ask you a question. What does your hull number start with? I was told that my 38' FHB was a Nova. When I bought the Boat there was a blueprint - linedrawing of the boat with Nova printed at the bottom (by whoever did the blueprint). But in all my searches I am unable to...

Stern tie - I need your opinion

Now you're getting to part of the reason that I started this thread - the chafe gear. I'm one of those who take the stern tie to shore and back so that I can simply release the tie from the cleat on the ship and just stay aboard and real it all back in. My question regarding the chafe gear was...

Let me help you sell your boat!!!

We just took our boat and house off of the market and decided to stay put and retire here. (I really didn't want to go back to -35 and 4' of snow anyway.) Both the boat brokers AND the Realtor! I can NOT tell you how many times we had to correct their spelling and grammar. (And IMO mine's...
