    Duroboat aluminum boats

Duroboat We had one, carried on stern davit, and the bottom corroded through, apparently due to diesel gases combined with salt water. 5052 alloy aluminum is not the best salt water material. Carey

What's up with Garmin automobile GPS'?

Keith I have been a Garmin devotee since my first 330 Streetpilot, due mostly to their totally intuitive nature. I finally decided to go for lifetime maps, so chose the newest model at the time (3490), about a year ago. It was also a little bigger screen and only about a 1/4" thick. Very...

This is the storm to keep an eye on

Lacking any actual Hurricane experts on this site, I guess we are supposed to take your prediction of F1 (A tornado rating), as an actual rating for a Hurricane, which would be correctly rated at Category one for the lowest level hurricane? I am told that I and my coworkers should speak...

Help 10' jon boat motor ?????

In my mind, (a very confused place), I see any boat that has been altered, as not having a specific horsepower rating. If it has been altered for your personal use based on your engineering, I don't see how the original Coast Guard hp rating could come into play as far as making your boat legal...

    BBxpress

Yes, I used BBX on occasion, just purchasing a three day access at a time. As Marin stated, it was very weak everywhere we went if you were near the edges of the marina. We now use Clear (used to be clearwire). They are our wireless internet provider at home, and for a bundled price, we added...

    30+ Foot Boat Recommendations

Check out the Commander 30. They are built in British Columbia to very high standards, and come complete with plates and silverware. There are a fair number for sale used, in both Washington and British Columbia. This has got to be the best layed out boat with the absolute best use of space of...

    Lobsterboat weekend

Don I think you are right about the earlier design of the wood boat pictured. I spoke with the owner a couple years ago, but my memory is lacking as to designer, builder or other particulars. She is very nicely maintained, with full canvas cover. My "Happy Destiny" is a Spencer...

    Stern Thruster

I guess if anyone is inclined to answer the question, they will. Chastising those who deviate slightly from your expectations may not prove to be productive.

    Recommend Fuel Efficient Trawler

Steve Did you mean 2.4 gph?

    Recommend Fuel Efficient Trawler

Any trawler will do better than 2 nmpg. My lobster boat, which loves to go faster, will get a little over 2 nmpg at eight knots. Or I can go nuts and run 18 knots at 1/2 nmpg. I prefer fifteen knots at 1 nmpg, but am traveling at 8 knots a lot these days. Now, if you are looking for 2 gallons...

Dock mate crushes comment by another

Don Moon said To me the best set up is a single with a bow thruster. It is the best of both worlds. Don I am with you, but whatever works is good. It's mostly about what you are used to. Carey

Why I'm not in a hurry to buy anything

MilShooter Wow!!! You are an inspiration. Your strength is incredible, and I would only hope that I could be as strong as you have been, and likely will continue to be. I wish for you all the happiness and all the boating time that you could hope for. There truly is no better way to...

    Humor

Boudreaux and Marie's 50th anniversary Boudreaux and Marie were sitting at the breakfast table on the morning of their fiftieth anniversary. Boudreaux remarked", You know Cher, it's been fifty years since we sat here for our first breakfast together." Marie replied, "Yeh, an' if I remembers...
