Can a 25'-27' Tug replace an RV to live on land & sea?

This is the set up we have. A 26’ Class A with a queen bed and a 38ft Marine Trader Sundeck with a queen bed. It’s hard to give up creature comforts once you’ve experienced them. ?

    Smart Plug

10 ga wire to the breaker. 30 amp service. Never disconnected under load. Only thing running is the marine ac/heat drawing just over 8 amps and the refrigerator @ 2. PowerShare system through the inverter for battery charging that reduces charging when AC amp demand increases. Can’t find any...

    Smart Plug

A year ago I swapped out my shore power cord for the SmartPlug after the cord and plug from the previous owner had a melt down. I wanted to be extra safe. A year later, the Smart Plug just did what they say it's not supposed to do. Tripped the breaker thankfully and no fire. Damage is limited...

    Xantrex Charger fault

I have the Xantrex freedom 30 charger/inverter with the iheart remote panel. No changes in the physical set up since acquiring the boat more than a year ago and it’s worked great until recently. I’ve started getting an over temp warning and the system stops charging, typical when I can’t get...

Top 5 reasons to dock bow in (for us)

It always bothers me to see individuals makes snarky responses, passive-aggressively implying the OP is some how less of a boater than they are when posting a contrarian topic; as the purpose of this forum it to find information and people don’t come here to be criticized, right? I guess if it...

Ford Lehman Oil Pan Breather Tube

This is more of a "for my information" type question. I understand the purpose of a valve cover breather on a gasoline engine, but I notice there is what appears to be a breather tube coming out of the upper side of the oil pan on my Ford Lehman 120. It is capped with what looks like an old...

    Sliding Windows Replacement/Fixed Removal?

Well that doesn't sound like much fun. :-) Thanks!

    Sliding Windows Replacement/Fixed Removal?

I managed to add my ranks to “butt vs window” during a bit of a rough ride. From what I’ve read on here, the fixed window needs to come out and I can lift the slider over the bottom rail to remove. The trouble is the fixed window. It appears to have a black slightly flexible adhesive on three...

    Rudder Bolt Water Seepage

Thanks Pete. The hull is not cored so no worries there. I'll give the nut a turn and see what happens.

    Rudder Bolt Water Seepage

I'm planning on pulling the boat in the next 2 months for bottom painting and through hull maintenance. I recently noticed a very small amount of water seepage in through the rudder attachment bolts. and wondered if this hints at any issues I should also be prepared for? Thoughts and comments...

    Stuffing Box Lubrication?

The packing on my stuffing box was last replaced about 2 years ago, just before I bought this boat. My understanding is the bearing is lubricated by the water that is dripping through the stuffing (It has Teflon stuffing in it according to maintenance receipts). It drips about once a minute and...

    Isenglass and Sunbrella stitching

Alright, I'm convinced. I'm going to start looking for a suitable machine to use, buy the Gore thread as recommended and will have a project to do when it's too cold to boat. Thanks to everyone for the feedback and the encouragement. I'll post pic's when the job is completed. I look forward to...

    First dinghy question

We use a Weaver System. Easy up and down with the dink and no visibility issues or access problems. 8' seems a bit small to me. Ours is 10' and it's about as small I think is comfortable for two plus dogs. Bigger is better if possible. IMHO

    Isenglass and Sunbrella stitching

I might just try to find a used machine and give it a go. I like the idea of doing it myself. I'm with you on the thread choice. Seems like a no-brainer to do it right the first time!
