WARNING: Safety issues with Mathers controls

Hi Raffy Sorry I have gone quiet … been a busy time. A small update now that I have been nursing the boat around on one and a half engines. The problem of the half selection of port engine forward occurs as soon as the ignition is switched on. Turn the key and 9 times out of 10 port gearbox...

Thanks Raffy. Sorry to keep pestering you but just so I know. Regarding the boxes is it complete box replacement or just the boards in the boxes you replace? And re the sync harness does that go from engine room to the handset or is it just in the engine room. ? I have replaced a handset...

WARNING: Safety issues with Mathers controls

Thanks Raffy. That’s good to know I am slightly confused though as on one hand you say the pots in the handsets get worn. And on the other you say I can upgrade the boards in the engine room boxes and keep existing handsets. Good to know and a relief. But don’t I need to replace the...

WARNING: Safety issues with Mathers controls

Thanks Raffy I will check for corrosion however I very much doubt that there will any as the unit is pretty much in an enclosed wheelhouse and is completely out of the weather and is actually inside the galley ceiling from underneath. Today as a mayor intereste I found and inspected the old...

WARNING: Safety issues with Mathers controls

Thanks so much for the great input. Are you suggesting that the terminals on the exterior bottom of the handset could be corroded or do you suggest I pull it apart and look and clean inside.? I will attach a pic of my controllers. One other thing that may be relevant is that lately on start...

WARNING: Safety issues with Mathers controls

Hi Raffy I know this is an old thread but I thought I would ask anyway. Your knowledge of Microcommanders seems amazing. I am in Australia and finding help with these is difficult. I have 1998 Horizon with cats and duel station MC controls I have replaced flying bridge control about 7 years...

Halvorsen 57 new hull colour or Color

Vinyl Wrap and fenders The Vinyl Wrap certainly looks the part and makes good economic sense. How does it fair with fenders rubbing up against it at the marina or in a raft up when things get a bit lumpy as a maniac roars past with no consideration of his wake! Sorry about that rant. I...

    Mastervolt "MasterFault"

It is winter down under and engine room is relatively cool, all I can tell you is that condensation collects on those units and you ignore it at your own peril. Main engines have not been run for three months so everything is pretty cool down there so there you go. FYI:confused:

    Mastervolt "MasterFault"

Warning to Mastervolt owners Can Chargemasters become water makers? My boat WAS fitted with two new Mastervolt 24/80 3 Chargemasters in late 2012. They are bulkhead mounted in a full walk around engine room in our 70' Horizon motor yacht . The engine room is usually warm and dry. Although...

    Simultalk 24G Communication System Problems

Yes Twistedtree. I figured the Sena might be better, also the head piece looks more comfortable than that hard piece of uncomfortable wire that the Simultalk has. So I ordered them the other day. I received my Sena units today and have just paired them and they seem pretty good, not sure...

    Simultalk 24G Communication System Problems

Hi I am writing to tell everyone how disappointed I am in Simultalk 24g headsets. I don't know if anyone else has had these units. On the 13th/oct /2013. I purchased three of these units, at US$500! None of them work any more! They have been used very rarely on our 70’ boat to help when...

Need help with Pure Sine vs Modified Sine inverters

Only go Pure!! Three coffee machines, two electric blankets, one Samsung 34'LCD later I have learned my lesson. And IMHO go as big as you can, you can run more stuff, boil the kettle, run the TV no problem, When underway the engines are replacing the charge. Buy a good brand, not the cheap "to...
